Umbran Year 997
"Mommy, Mommy. Wake up!" Stella jumped on the bed, trying to wake her mom. "It's my first day of school! I don't want to be late! Come on, wake up!"
"Yawn~" Lumine slowly opened her sleepy eyes, rubbed them, and looked out the window. "Ah~ The sun isn't even up yet. Baby, it's still too early."
Stella ran to the window and checked outside. "But I will be late if I don't prepare now." She tried to wake Lumine again, pulling and shaking her hand.
"Arg..."
Lumine pulled Stella into her arms and kissed her on the forehead. "You don't wanna be tired and sleepy on your first day, do you?"
"N... No~?" Stella replied softly, "But... But I don't want to be late either."
Lumine hugged Stella tight. "I'll wake you when it's time, okay?"
"O... Okay~"
---
"Stella! Hurry up! We're late."
"Uwaahh!" Stella cried while hurriedly changing her clothes. "You said you would wake me!"
Lumine helped Stella get dressed. "OK! OK! I'm sorry. If you hadn't made such a fuss earlier, I could have gotten up on time."
Stella kept crying without saying a word.
"Baby, we won't be late." Lumine knelt before Stella and patted her head gently. "Come on. Stop crying. I got this."
Stella rubbed her tears away and looked at Lumine with watery eyes. "Really?"
"Of course, who do you think I am? Haha." Lumine took Stella by the hand to the door. "Ms. Cornelia, we'll be off first. Take your time."
"Yes, Ma'am." Ms. Cornelia, the head of the housekeepers, came downstairs and sent them off.
Lumine carried Stella in her arms. "Hold tight, Baby, okay?"
Stella nodded her head profusely and shut her eyes tight.
"Left Middle Finger Authority, Bestowed By Egotheon of the Seven. Windsteps!"
Wind gathered around and pressed tightly beneath Lumine's feet.
"Let's go!"
"Weeeeee~ We made it on time." Stella ran toward the school gate, then suddenly stopped before the gate and turned back to Lumine. "Mom, you will come take me home, right?"
Lumine waved at Stella and shouted, "I'll be waiting before school is over! Love you so much, my Baby!" Stella made a big heart-shaped sign back at Lumine and ran into the schoolyard.
Not long after Stella went into the school, Ms. Cornelia came near Lumine. "It's almost time, right? Miss Seraphine?"
"Yes. It's going to be hard, but is she ready to face it?" Lumine replied, staring at the gate that Stella went through.
