Chapter 2: '2nd question' Where am I

I looked out and saw what used to be a deep forest with no sign of civilization turned into an academy of some sort. Not that I'd recognize it since the only one I've ever seen was the Lunar Academy which was where we were gifted Edith's moonlit staff, not that she'll use it now that she's dead, The forest I was in was surrounded by the academy walls and I didn't want to fuck around here in case someone saw the giant fucking wall in one of the mountains explode.

I sent out some wraiths to scout the area and it turns out that there's an exam of some kind going on right now, from what I can tell, all the students were in their classes taking their exams while I walked around the forest going to the east wall of the academy.

The wraiths told me that there was a slight crack in their mana shield. Oh, I forgot to tell you people that they had a FUCKING SHIELD AROUND THIS PLACE!

Before we went into the ruin of Greed's Crown, mana shields were scarce and expensive, so you can guess that the idea of a mana shield surrounding the whole academy hurt my empty sack of coins a bit too much.

I walked for a couple of hours avoiding the sensor mages that were set up around the forest until I reached the crack in the mana shield. I was about to expand by turning the surrounding shield into anti-mana but the wraiths stopped just before I did.

They told me that I should probably look deeper into the shield, which I did, and turns out that the wraiths helped me dodge a bullet.

Past the east wall shield was the second entrance to the academy where there were dozens of students with their guards or butlers with them.

I suddenly had an idea. It was a dangerous one but it's also the simplest way to get information. I just need to join the academy. I could pass for a 16 to 17-year-old while also making connections with influential people since this academy is probably a prestigious one by the looks of it.

To succeed in my plan, I'd need to get admitted on a scholarship or steal money either one works but stealing the currency they use in this time period is much easier than giving away info on some if not most of my abilities.

'I'll send out some wraiths to find information about the currency they use as currency here while testing the rest to see if they can touch or affect physical objects.' I thought.

"Red. Try and break off a leaf from that tree over there." I pointed to the tree on my right side with my thumb.

Red proceeded to do just that and had his hand pass through the leaf. I told him to do it again while I boosted his power with Greed's Crown. After he got the boost his form started turning from a whitish gray to more of a pale green. He tried pulling the leaf. It didn't break off but it did get pushed a bit.

'That pretty much explains the question I was gonna ask.' I told the spirit inside the crown to put more energy into the boost until Red took on a form that was colored darkish green which did the trick and allowed him to break off the leaf with ease.

"Ok, now with that done we can go and meet the wraiths that came back from info gathering." I turned to where the wraiths were standing and started hearing what they had to say. They found out that the currency this time period uses is called 'U.C.' short for universal coins.

The history behind it was much more interesting. A few hundred years ago technological innovations came left and right while kingdoms became bigger and in turn, became countries. They had countless wars and conflicts in those years until something called the 'Culling' happened.

It happened about two hundred years ago. Evolved monsters and devils started appearing from another dimension, although they looked similar to their weaker counterparts that couldn't be said the same for their strength. They quickly wiped out weak countries that weren't on the forefront of technological and magical advancements which made it all the more easier for the devils to rule those parts of the land.

Elves and dwarves needed to give up most of their land and live with humans. Did I forget to mention that all of them were on bad terms? Currently, humans own about. 45% of the land while the dwarves have 10% and elves are worse since they only have 7%. Now, I'm wondering how the fuck did my wraith's get this much information on the world in only 10 minutes. It turns out that they went and eavesdropped on multiple history classes and monster hunting classes and even found about some influential figures in this school

Anyway, I hid on top of one of the trees while waiting for my fifty wraiths to bring back some U.C. while the other ten found out what are the expenses to get into the academy.

After a while, the information wraiths gathered around me and told me the expenses. It turned out to be a whopping total of six hundred and thirty U.Cs which broke my soon-not-to-be empty wallet's heart even further. They also told me that not many students or faculty members heard the explosion and would probably not notice it unless they checked every inch of the forest each day. It gave me a sense of relief that people didn't notice it.

I waited a bit longer until the money wraiths brought about a thousand U.Cs so it didn't matter that my past wallet's heart was broken. It was better if I had extra coins in case I needed to bribe someone or buy some information that I couldn't get by eavesdropping.

Now that I had made enough preparations, it was time to enter the academy.
