Bennett Takes the Plunge

"Alright everyone, I know things have a bit slow since Yoimiya left for her training, but we're getting some help from the Dendros to help speed up the progress" said Amber. "It's nice to work with the Dendros, Nahida has so much wisdom, Collei's a kind hearted soul, and Baizhu is, uh" said Klee while trying to figure out a word to describe Baizhu. "Quite troublesome!" finished Xiangling. "Well not the word I would use, but that's a good way to put it, he's not bad tho, just a little cocky to say the least" Klee said. "Still won't forgive him for what he said to me yesterday" Xiangling finished. "Alright everyone, you all have jobs to do, but there is one problem" "And what may that be?" asked Klee. "The Dendros are saying that their crops are dying out due to having no to little water available, lucky for us, we live near a whole body of water, so I need someone to deliver our water to them" "Well, Amber, we have our own jobs to do, so I guess you have to do it" said Klee. "What about Hu Tao?" asked Xiangling. "I have to go to the market today, so I can't be of any assistance" Hu Tao added. "You know, Amber, I can run that errand for you" said Bennett. The others were in shock. "I forgot he's still with us" said Xiangling quietly. "Well he doesn't talk a lot and we rarely speak to him, I think after Chevreuse left, he's just kinda there" Hu Tao stated. "Alright you two, no time to talk, we have work to do" ordered Klee. "Bennett, your job's quite simple, you need to carry buckets of water to the Dendros, you have to run back and forth though, so it might be a bit tedious" Amber said. "Oh no problem, Amber, it's nice to get some cardio in once in a while" said Bennett proudly. "At a boy, oh and remember, don't go into the high tide, the water there's freezing, I put a sign there to warn others, so beware" said Amber sternly. Bennett was curious. "What is Amber talking about, we're Pyros, we can stand the cold, but I can't disobey direct orders either" he thought. So Bennett filled the buckets with water and brought them to Sumeru. "Thanks Bennett, I suppose you may have heard of us" said Collei. "Of course he has, we're working twice as hard so we can support them!" snapped Baizhu. "Baizhu, you do have quite the temper, you sound just like Xiangling, and what you said to her yesterday?" said Bennett. "I was just telling her how we Dendros do stuff differently than you Pyros, and I may have called her out on her recent mistakes" responded Baizhu. "I see, well see you guys tomorrow!" Bennett said while still thinking about what Amber said about the high tide. When he arrived back, Hu Tao was there, she completed her job early. "How do you get done with your jobs so quickly?" asked the surprised Pyro. "Well there's a reason why Furina called me spindly legs, not just for the insults, but I am the second fastest member on the team behind Xiangling" she said. "Hey, can you do me a favor?" whispered Bennett. "Yeah, what's up?" "Can you push me in the high tide, please?" he asked nervously. "Oh my, Bennett, I didn't know you were a rule breaker" said Hu Tao. "I'm just curious, ok, so we got a deal?" Bennett asked. "Yes we certainly do" said Hu Tao mischievously. So she pushed Bennett into the water. "How's it like?" she asked. "It's not that bad really, see I knew Amber was just toying with me" he said obliviously. "Well have fun swimming, I'm going to sleep" Hu Tao said before heading to her tent. Bennett was enjoying the cool water, until suddenly the temperature dropped drastically, and Bennett was frozen into place, his mouth being the only thing that he can move. "Hey Hu Tao, I'm frozen, can you get me out of here?" he said. But Hu Tao was fast asleep. Bennett was frozen in there for a good 30 minutes, slowly regretting his decision. "Maybe that'll teach you not to disobey my orders" Bennett knew that voice anywhere. "I'm s-s-s-s-sorry, Amber, I should've listened to you, I was just c-c-c-c-curious" he said while shivering. "Well did you ever hear the saying, "Curiosity killed the cat", I'm getting you out of here, but I hope you're learned your lesson" she said with authority. Then she looked at Bennett's goggles. "And if it happens again, the ice won't be the only thing that I'm cracking, so in other words, your career is on the line, need I say more?" said Amber while smiling. Bennett just sat there in shock as Amber got him out of the water.
