After locking his apartment, Felix made his way towards the elevator. Upon entering, he pressed the button for the first floor, but nothing happened.
"This is insane; I really need to talk to the building manager. It's been out of commission for a full week," Felix muttered to himself.
He reluctantly decided to take the stairs. In less than a minute, he walked out of the building—an impressive feat considering his room was on the 8th floor.
Felix retrieved a silver miniature hoverboard from his pocket, tossing it to the ground. Before it could hit, it transformed into a full-sized hoverboard. Casually jumping on, he sped through the sidewalk, dodging random groups of people while the wind played with his short red hair.
After a few minutes of reckless speeding, he was stopped by a red light at a crosswalk. While waiting for the light to turn green, he recalled one of his grandfather's many pieces of advice.
"Listen here, little Felix. Do you know what the most powerful ability a hunter can have is?"
"Of course, Grandpa. Isn't it the Apex-ranked ability?"
"In a sense, yes. But the most powerful ability doesn't come from supernatural skills; it comes from the mind itself. It's having the resilience to go on and strive for more. You must never give up because, once you do, there is no coming back. Remember that, little Felix."
Reality snapped back as people bumped into him when the traffic light turned green.
"I hope you're watching over me from above, Grandpa," Felix said before jumping back on his hoverboard.
Now, standing before the majestic Hunter's Association building, one couldn't tear their eyes away from its towering structure. Entirely built from glass-like material bathed in a light red color, it reached skyward for over a kilometer. Despite its transparent exterior, it was known as one of the best-secured buildings in the city.
"Well, I hope their elevators work."
Now in the lounge of the building, Felix marveled at the elegant and sleek design of the room. His admiration was interrupted by a cute voice from the secretary behind the reception desk.
"Hello, how can I help you?" the young, charming secretary with a blonde bob cut asked.
After a brief moment admiring her, Felix replied, "Hi, I should have an appointment for hunter registration. My name is Felix Everheart. What would be yours, beautiful angel?"
Without batting an eye at his pickup line, she responded in a robotic voice, "Please go sit in our lounge; our employee will be with you in a second."
Felix, acknowledging the boundaries as a self-proclaimed gentleman, walked over to the lounge. Still baffled by his failed pickup line, he settled on the couch, awaiting the breakthrough moment in his life.
