The Debate Team is Launched

In school, Dash was sitting next to Devon, playing with a tangerine and listening to the class without paying much attention because he knew that many of the things being taught wouldn't be useful to him.

Why did he need singing classes? There were truly unnecessary classes; some of the educational systems were confusing to him because they weren't effective.

"The education system of this country is made to control us; we must be the resistance, Devon..." Dash muttered while poking Devon's ribs with his pen.

Devon didn't flinch. Every time Dash got bored, he did these things, and she knew the best way to make him be quiet was to remain silent herself. If she started arguing now, it wouldn't lead anywhere. Therefore, she grabbed Dash's hand that was bothering her and prevented him from moving further.

Teacher Daisy ignored the behavior of these two; after all, both weren't disrupting the class, and they had good grades, which was enough not to be bothered.

"All right, we have discussed with the school committee about the debate we will have with Seaford High School, and it is very important to maintain the honor of the school. As many of you know, this debate doesn't happen very often, but it will be held this year, and two students from this class have been chosen for the team that will be sent."

Dash, who was now eating the tangerine, handed half of it to Devon and muttered, "Poor people who have to debate in such a distant school. I wonder who was chosen."

"Dash Hale."

Devon held back her laughter at Dash's confused look, and before he could complain, the teacher said, "Devon Lee, congratulations. Both of you were the best last year, so you have been chosen for the competition that will take place in a few days."

All their classmates applauded; everyone knew that both belonged to the debate team because they had gone to watch their debates, and they were all extremely interesting and intense.

Devon looked at Dash and said, "Remember that you mentioned once that you would do anything as long as I learned martial arts by your side? Well, let's say we've signed up our names to qualify for debates with other schools."

Dash snorted and said, "You should have told me; I don't like surprises."

"Aren't you angry?" Devon looked at Dash with suspicious eyes.

"You'll pay me back in another way..."

Devon pretended not to hear that. Dash wouldn't be bothered by something like this; instead, one could say that it was interesting. So much martial arts lately could be bad for them because they only thought about that. Therefore, some fresh air would be much more beneficial.

"Well, that's it for the class." Daisy looked at the tired students and sighed at the lack of energy those kids had in their bodies. After finishing the class, she walked towards the two students selected by the debate club and said, "Now that you have been selected by your club, they will give you more information, but still, congratulations. You are the youngest to participate."

Dash nodded and said, "Of course, that's because we're the best."

Devon smiled nervously, and after elbowing Dash to behave, she said, "We are happy to represent the school."

"That's the spirit, guys. Good luck, and you better go eat something."

As the teacher walked away, Devon began to pack her things, but before she left, Dash stopped her and said, "Miss Devon, do you think you can escape your punishment?"

"Now?" Devon looked at Dash with vigilant eyes, unsure of what he was up to.

Dash thought about it for a few seconds but finally shook his head, suggesting to Devon that they go get the information they needed for the debate with Seaford High School to be better informed.

As they took the sheets with the information, they went to the cafeteria, where they sat at a table away from the rest. They preferred to be in quieter places, so they decided to sit at that table, but the tranquility wouldn't last long because they soon had visitors.

Eli, better known as Hawk, sat with several Cobra Kai guys and said, "I thought you hadn't come to the cafeteria; why are we now in the corner like some damn social recluses?"

"I'm glad you're here; I want to make you a proposal!" Dash dragged his good friend Hawk, who they weren't really close, but still said, "We'll need a cheerleading team, but we also need men in the group to protect ours."

Hawk got excited, looked at Dash more attentively, and nodded. "Come on, you can ask me anything if you teach me that double-kick attack."

"Of course, I'll teach you. We'll be training together these days, so I can teach you that move and many more. But the most important thing is that we're going to compete with Seaford High School, and we need a group to accompany us to help with the paperwork, but these are small things, so you could come and liven up things a bit more." Dash wanted to take Hawk for a simple reason he hadn't mentioned yet.

Hawk, of course, got excited, looked at Dash, and said, "Of course, that sounds much more interesting than being in class."

"Then choose a few more friends, and before the classes end, send me their names by message to register them on the support team." Dash said with a charming smile.

Devon, on the side, simply shook her head. She knew exactly what Dash wanted, that things between Eli and Demetri would be fixed, so she would invite both of them on the trip to try to get them to join.

"It's crazy, bringing Cobra Kai guys will be crazy..." Devon said briefly after Hawk left excitedly.

Dash knew this was true, but still said, "It's not so bad. At least we can focus on a single enemy, which is Seaford High School, and maybe this way, forget things from the past."
