Her Frugal Heart Hurt

Using the little of her strength, Leslie reached out for Calix's arm, weakly grasping his sleeve. He still rested his palm against the back of the wheelchair. Their eyes collided with each other.

Leslie carefully took in Calix's facial expression imbued with concern. Her gaze fell briefly on the two little moles under his left eye. The glow came from the moonlight and garden lamps illuminating his face.

Pressing her thumb on his arm, Leslie slowly spoke, "You're worried... about me... I appreciate that... Calix... But, I still want to... see it... I want to... know..."

Considering her weakened condition right now, Leslie understood that she couldn't do much even if she finally met Calliope. Yet, her longing for her precious daughter had grown too deep.

If possible, Leslie refused to waste any second. Unfortunately, the reality was not as ideal as her wish.
