The Gates of Carleon

It's late morning when we finally arrive at the gates of Carleon.

Earlier than expected - only a little less than three days, rather than four days - but there are considerably fewer detours and reasons to slow us down, and the road to Carleon is much wider past Dreytan than before it.

May stares in wonder, gasping, leaning on Roland's arm as we approach.

She's been gasping and staring since Carleon came in sight, but now she's really impressed.

Now that she can see how tall those walls really are, how high up the palace is.

Roland smiles as he lets her tug on his sleeve and point at all the little things. "You'll see the city lots from inside, May, but yes. Those are big, aren't they?"

May nods so vigorously her head must feel like it's about to fall off.

The city walls of Carleon are as high and impressive as the last time we visited it. The damage from the attack of the re-living army has been entirely cleared up now.
