Flireflies and Worms

"Woooooowwww...!"

May gazes up in awe at the sky above.

I chuckle to myself as I continue working, sawing lumber alongside Lucas.

I can't blame the girl for her enthusiasm, really.

After all, there is quite a display going on above our heads this evening.

Tiny lightning bugs.

Little, shimmering specks of green light flutter in the darkness, rising into the night air as if dancing in the cold winter winds.

May raises a hand up, a determined look in her eyes as she strains to touch the flying lights.

It is just so close, too...

Just...so close...!

One of the bugs flies lower than the others, and she takes a leap after it, landing in the soft dirt and wet grass, where it disappears. "Wait...!"

The child scrambles to her knees and starts to dig the ground, desperately seeking for the source of the glow.
