It's another day after the rain stops before we're willing to trust the roads to have dried up. The rain had been enough of a downpour it just wasn't worth risking it until we are sure.
Scarle and the others leave immediately once the rain clears up, but that's to be expected, they travel lighter. Horses can handle mud that wagons like ours just can't.
When the morning comes, May bursts through the doors to our inn room like she's about to start a musical number.
Or, more contemporary, like she's some nosy guard barging into the room.
I would know.
I've been that nosy guard.
In the past.
Basically, anyway.
I slowly blink up at where she's standing. "Good morning, sweetheart..." I mutter as I rub the sleep out of my eyes.
Lucas grumbles in his sleep next to me.
I give him a little push with my knee.
"Move."
The man mutters. "Come closer."
"No. Move." I huff. "The little monster is here."
