The three tunnels (2)

Inside the second tunnel, the air was cold, almost icy, and the scent of dampness lingered like an ominous warning. Daxia covered her nose, the smell of decay twitching her nostrils with displeasure. The darkness obscured her view as if she was walking into a blind alley.

At the center of the seemingly endless corridor stood an antique, its surface cracked and stained. Its head was tilted at an angle as if somebody had snapped and broke its bone. The view was grotesque and stomach churning.

"Eekkkk!!"

She scooted closer to Shilin in horror, her heart racing fast with trepidation.

Shilin looked at her and assuredly smiled. "It's alright. It's a fake antique."

"Y-Yeah…" she wasn't sure if her hoarse voice was due to these nightmarish tricks conjuring her sense of reality or the fact that her extra proximity to Shilin was the culprit.
