Learning the basics II

"Huhh?" Allen exclaimed, frozen in shock and surprise as he beheld the monstrously high values of attributes displayed before him. He blinked, confirming whether what he had seen was indeed real.

Not only was his Mana attribute already in the triple digits, but his overall attributes surpassed even those of a diamond-ranked systemholder.

Typically, diamond-ranked systemholders boasted attributes in the twenties for main stats and in the tens for non-main stats. Allen's attributes far exceeded these norms as all his stat sat in the twenties.

Observing his overall stats in the twenties, Allen nervously glanced around, pondering if his system could possibly be classified as a diamond-ranked system.

However, he quickly dismissed this thought, feeling that his system transcended conventional rankings. Its existence seemed to defy the limitations imposed by current systems.

His experience of receiving a quest without reaching level ten further solidified this belief. Allen sensed that his system operated on a level beyond the comprehension of standard rankings.

Continuing to scroll down with meticulous care, Allen ensured that no detail went unnoticed. Suddenly, his eyes landed on his range of affinities, nearly causing him to fall from his seat.

"All affinities?" he thought inwardly, his gaze darting around the room as he struggled to comprehend what he was seeing.

After he surpressed his initial shock he pondered whether this truly meant he possessed all affinities, including the incredibly rare ones like Shadow affinity, space-time affinity, gravity affinity, and other immensely powerful affinities.

Realization dawned on him that he couldn't afford to let anyone else know about his newfound fortune. Revealing such a secret could potentially endanger his life.

With this newfound knowledge, Allen resolved to keep his abilities concealed from others at all costs.

"Now that you have reviewed your system's numerical representation, you will notice the Origin Skill section, where you will find a range of abilities to choose from."

"Some of you may be limited to two options, while others may have only one. Make sure you choose your skills wisely and consider their importance in the long run," she advised.

The students promptly took action, inspecting and meticulously selecting their respective origin skills after reading the descriptions. Allen soon followed suit, his gaze trailing to Jackie, who was deeply focused on making his decision.

Shifting his focus back to his own system, Allen began examining the origin skills and their descriptions. Almost immediately, he made his choice.

Firstly, he decided it was best to remove "Bioluminescent Glare," emitting light from one's eye, along with some other redundant factors. He immediately deemed it useless and unimportant compared to the rest of the options available to him.

After a few more minutes of careful consideration, Allen finally made his decision and chose the "Dragon Flame" origin skill.

He recognized the necessity for long-range abilities, but he couldn't ignore the fact that the origin skills he possessed came from the main ranges of system variation.

Setting aside his thoughts for later, he continued his meticulous selection process. In the end, he decided to choose "Partial Draconic Transformation" along with "Dragonification," which surprised him greatly. He couldn't help but wonder why these skills resembled those of a summoner and a necromancer.

Amelia began inspecting the students' systems, scanning for hidden potential, employing her "Truth Eye" skill, a rarity of one in a million. Though it might be considered an invasion of privacy, she knew it wasn't if she wasn't caught in the process.

After a few minutes of inspecting low-level and mediocre systems, occasionally finding some impressive ones but not enough to pique her interest, her gaze eventually trailed to Allen.

Despite giving him an initially high value in her choice of students, with his cute and handsome face, she knew he could easily capture the attention of almost any girl.

However, she noticed that he seemed to restrain himself from doing so, which naturally earned her acknowledgment.

As Amelia delved deeper into her mission to breach Allen's defenses, her confidence wavered as she encountered an unexpected obstacle. With each attempt to bypass the security measures, an ominous force seized her, wrenching her into a void of absolute darkness.

Within this abyss, she was engulfed by a suffocating aura of malevolence, as if the very essence of her being was being scrutinized by an unfathomable presence.

Beads of sweat formed on her brow, her heart pounding in her chest as she grappled with the incomprehensible magnitude of the entities looming around her.

Abruptly, she was forcefully expelled from the abyss, gasping for air as she found herself back in a stark reality.

The harrowing ordeal served as a chilling reminder, imprinting upon her psyche the grave consequences of her actions.

Amelia understood with a newfound gravity that any further attempts to breach the defenses could result in irreparable harm, perhaps even costing her life.

"Just, what are you?" Amelia questioned, her voice trembling slightly as cold sweat dripped down her face. She couldn't help but wonder how Allen was capable of such a counter.

However, noticing that his gaze wasn't on her, she speculated that it might be something he did not do intentionally, or perhaps an autonomous defense against intrusion.

"Now class, if you are all done, let's move on to some explanation," she declared, attempting to ignore the migraine headache that had begun to plague her. Her gaze occasionally traveled towards Allen, still pondering the mysteries surrounding him.

"Let's start with the difference between system rank and stat value," she began, bringing everyone's attention to the front of the class. She didn't want anyone to miss such important exposition about the true differences between systems.

"You see, the difference between systems in the beginning is not usually drastic, except for the fact that the experience points needed to level up vary depending on the rank. For example, an iron-ranked system requires one hundred experience points, while a silver-ranked system requires two hundred experience points. This continues in an increasing sequence of one hundred points per rank."

"However, this sequence ends after the first level, which is when systems begin to show their actual differences. After every level up, the required experience points double," she halted, ensuring those who were taking notes could keep up. Although she viewed their actions as somewhat pointless, but she still allowed it before continuing.

"Some of you might think that this would be disadvantageous to those who possess higher-ranked systems, but in all honesty, it is the other way around.

Generally, after each level up, all ranks receive an increase in main stats and five free stat points," she paused once again, piquing the students' curiosity. She then took out a device from under her desk, which she used to interact with the large screen at the front of the class.

She tapped a button, and the screen began to display images that could further enhance the students' understanding of what she was about to explain.

"As you can see, though each rank receives five stat points, the worth of those five points differs. Imagine each rank's stat points as a multiplier. Five stat points of a silver-ranked system are worth ten stat points to the iron-ranked system.

"For a gold-ranked system, five stat points would be worth fifteen to the iron rank, and for a platinum rank, it would be worth twenty stat points compared to the iron rank."

"This would mean that if a diamond-ranked systemholder puts one stat point on one stat, it would be equivalent to twenty five when compared to the iron rank, and for platinum, it would be equivalent to five, so technically each system possesses five plus greater strength than it's immediately lower ranking but sometimes systems vary in potential."

"Class, do you all... understand?" Amelia questioned, wondering if her explanation had been too fast, making it difficult for her students to comprehend.

After confirming that some students might have understood, she shrugged off the thought that it might have been too complex. Then, she focused and changed the topic to better help her students understand the system.

"Now, let's move to experience points, a very important aspect of the system," she said, knowing that experience points were the basis and foundation of the system.

"Experience points can only be obtained from one crucial factor, which is slaying monsters. When monsters are slain, the system absorbs their soul energy, which is what is called experience points," Amelia explained, before she could continue, a voice suddenly resounded with the purpose of asking a question.

"Yes, Jerrad?" she permitted, though her lack of willingness to answer him was evident in her expression. She considered him a coward who revered the strong and bullied the weak.

"Can one gain experience points from humans?" Jerrad questioned with a smile, but such a question was not what Amelia had expected. Shock and surprise immediately registered on her face.

Contemplating the reason for such a question, she focused her intent on Jerrad, holding back her killing intent. She knew that questions coming from a person like Jerrad were not merely for the purpose of inquiry, but harbored a hidden intent. Remaining cautious, she prepared herself to discern the true motive behind his question.

"Yes, it's indeed true that one can an gain experience points from humans," she finished wondering if their would be a change in Jerrad's expression but nothing seemed to change before he sat back in his seat.

Allen who had remained focused couldn't help but sense a hint of desire from Jerrad, who's thought seemed to have traveled to another plain of consciousness.
