A few questions certainly lingered on Asher's mind though, such as the fact that there was an entire lake visible to these 'travelers' and they had not gone there for water.
He could come up with two reasons for this though.
First was the same reason as Asher: they didn't wish to take the risk of getting close to the lake's edge where there could be animals or beasts hiding.
It would be a different thing ifs t was daytime and they could see clearly. But at night time, even with a torch it was risky.
The Second reason that Asher could think was that they had intentionally avoided it, since their current physical state was not good. Thus unless they absolutely were forced to get water from there, they wouldn't go there.
Asher also wondered if they knew more about the lake.
