Hearing the guard's words, the hearts of Micheal and Jon fell. They knew well that hunting demons was not a simple task, and even if they could take on Beasts, Demons were a wildly different. At least in the case of Beasts they had information about how they acted and what their weaknesses were, but it was not the case for Demons.
If they had to take the task, they would be going in blind.
"Isn't the army already there?" Asher asked. "Why can't they clear the portal?" he questioned.
"The Army has the duty to guard the people and the land. They can't risk going into the portal." The Guard answered.
"So because they don't want to go in, they're forcing the mercenaries to go in?" Hearing that, Asher couldn't help but find it ridiculous.
The guards didn't take kindly to his words though, as his expression changed quickly.
"What does a porter like you know?" the guard scoffed. "Know your place."
