The gate was locked. Of course, it was locked. It had always been locked for me since the day I left this boring realm. Eternally barred from stepping foot into 'paradise'. But now, I had an invitation. A key into his peaceful home.
The gates creaked open slightly as I let out a grin, sauntering my way inside as my mortal guise melted off my body. My long black hair draped down my back as a long pair of obsidian-shaded horns carved up my forehead, my eyes glowing a deep blood-red as a giant pair of black wings emerged out from my back, finally being let free for the first time in at least a millennia. I let out a giant stretch as all around me fearful shouts and confusion filled the air. Angels. Servants he created to bid to his every need. Must've felt lonely when I left home.
"Demon! A demon breached the gate!" One of them screamed as an army of more angels flocked over with their gold and silver spears and weapons. Their holy robes swayed in the wind as they flapped their pure white wings in the air. All of them had luscious golden hair resting against their shoulders; some tied up whilst others had cut it short. But overall, they all had the same structural features. An androgynous face with stern, business-only eyes. He must've gotten lazy with his project.
"Demon! How did you get up here?" An angel, which I assumed to be the leader shouted at me, causing my attention to turn to him.
He seemed the strongest out of the bunch, he even had a large white halo floating above his head, functionally it looked useless. It didn't seem to buff him in any way other than to make him stand out.
"Demon! Answer me!" He shouted again as the angels steadied their weapons.
I let out a sigh as I covered my face with my hand, "Demon this, demon that. That is so very rude." I glared back at the angel, "You're going to hurt my pride."
I teleported in front of him as I placed a hand on his halo. It was done purely out of curiosity. I gave it a light tug as the angel screamed,
"Gaaah!! Everyone attack!!" He flailed around, swinging his sword at me to no avail. A small forcefield bounced his sword right back.
"And heave," I muttered as I pulled his halo off his head, twirling it in my fingers whilst, in every direction, angels continued to bombard my forcefield with attack after attack, screaming their poor little lungs out as they hit with all their might. Tossing the now-seizing angel into the crowd, I played around with this magical halo in my hand. Wielding it like a Chakram, I targeted a random angel and sliced downwards; cutting them in perfect halves. I let out a laugh of surprise and pure glee. This was the kind of fight I was yearning for back on Earth. A full-on one-of-a-kind bloodshed.
Without giving them another second to strategize, I flung the halo into the mix, letting it cut through their intestines and continue barrelling down the crowd.
Unleashing my claws, I dug my fingers into them. Gutting them of their innards as I let the blood fly high into the sky, raining back down as I continued my massacre with a manic laugh.
"That's enough!" A loud angry voice suddenly resonated from a short distance away. The familiar tall blonde figure stood floating. His appearance was unchanged from the last time I laid my eyes on him.
"Brother. Please have some restraint when barging into someone's home." He said as he glared over at me, his eyes wandering over the mountain of corpses by my side. Not a single survivor remained. Truly a masterpiece, if I do say so myself.
"Don't you like my housewarming gift?" I tilted my head with a grin as I waved one of their arms up like a puppet, "Do you have any more toys I can play with? These seem defective."
"Xyn! How dare you!" He gripped his hand as a booming thunder echoed across the sky, "How did you get in here?"
"Please. No shouting." I snickered as I wiped my hands clean on the robe of a nearby corpse, "Have a seat."
I conjured up two chairs and plopped down onto one of them, watching him come closer as he sat across from me.
"Brother, please. Stop this madness." He spoke, "Stop all this killing. Perhaps one day, we can go back to the good old days."
I scoffed at his words as I leaned back, "Oh please. We've stopped being brothers years ago, El. When you were obsessed with your creations, refining them day after day. Shaping them into your narcissistic likeness, spreading them around like a plague in the mortal realm."
"Xyn! This has nothing to do with the mortals anymore!" A clap of thunder echoed out, "That was just a small hobby I had in my youth."
"Hobby?" I muttered out loud, a laugh escaping my lips as I stared him straight in the eyes, "Was it a hobby when you risked our home from collapsing into nothingness after exhausting your power for the sake of those humans? When you stabbed me for creating my own little project because it would be 'too dangerous' for those mortals to handle? Is it still a hobby when you gauged out my heart to gift to those fucking humans so they can receive some puny little free will? So if there's anything that should be said about the way I act, I think the answer is quite clear!"
I stood up from my chair as a cluster of lightning flickered across my body, gathering and responding to the anger I had buried deep within my soul, finally cracking and revealing itself to the surface.
"Is it fun, watching mortals squirm around while sitting high on your throne? Making them worship you, calling you God? Because I certainly have, watching atheists scramble for religion at their most desperate times, praying for your help as I crush every bone in their body, knowing that you abandoned them so many millennia ago. They praised you for their very existence only to have their hearts ripped out of their bodies as I danced in their blood. They blessed their food under your name, only to be poisoned and massacred; villages, and cities at a time! All of that that truly filled the hole in my missing heart."
"You've become such a monster…" El muttered under his breath, "Worse than demons-"
"Oh, El. I created the demons. Don't make the mistake of comparing me to them." I shook my head, "I did create them in my own likeness now."
I placed a hand on his seat as I summoned my sword, my trusty Soul Devourer. Its blade resonated out a wave of black aura; consuming all that it touched.
"Don't do this, Xyn." El squinted his eyes at the blade, "I apologise for everything I've done. Let's start over, hm?" He raised his hands as a golden sword appeared within his grasp.
I let out a snicker as I swung my blade, "I'll think about it after I've ripped your heart out of your dead body, deal?"
