I saw my greatest fear in my dreams…

"Adeline, forget our promise to Ragnar. We don't need to try to have a child anymore. We can stop being miserable and live happily, just the two of us. Let's betray him; it's okay. My brother is used to my selfishness," Uzana said, gripping Adeline's hand tightly and pulling her close to his chest, trying to hide his sobs.

"Uzana, stop being an asshole to your brother!" Adeline laughed softly, bewildered.

"No. This time, I mean it. Let's betray him, I beg you!"

Seeing her usually carefree and always laughing husband cry and plead so earnestly made her heart feel like it was being squeezed.

"Uzana, what's happening?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Please, Adeline," Uzana continued, his voice breaking.

Adeline hugged Uzana tightly, her hands gently rubbing his broad back, trying to soothe his pain. She could feel Uzana's agony—an ache that spread through his body without any physical wound.
