Choosing a Weapon (1)

Swoosh!

The wooden door slid open, and their homeroom teacher, Linda, entered.

Seeing her, all the students shut up and straightened their backs.

She walked over to the teacher's desk.

Supporting herself with her hands on the desk, she leaned forward and looked at all the students in the classroom.

She nodded. "I see you all have received the cultivation techniques." However, she immediately frowned after noticing that a few students did not pay attention. All their attention was on the cultivation technique in their hands.

Bam!

She slammed her hand on the desk. "Stop looking at the cultivation technique. You will have all the time to study it when the classes end and you return to your room."

The students who did not pay attention immediately put down the cultivation technique on their desks.

"Good." Linda nodded. "I have come to take you to the next class." She said. "Follow me."

The students stood up from their seats and followed her.

They left the classroom.

The elevators were next to their classroom 1-A, so they did not waste time walking to the elevators.

"Get in the elevators," Linda commanded the students. "Choose the eleventh floor."

After she said this, she chose a few students and entered the elevator.

The students she chose and went in together with her in the elevator were Chloe, Carol, Alden, Neo, and Owen.

She touched the screen of her wristwatch to the digital screen of the elevator, and seconds later, the floors she had access to appeared on the digital screen.

She had access up to the thirtieth floor.

'Even as a teacher, teacher Linda does not have access to all the floors.' Alden could not help but think as he looked at the black wristwatch on Linda's wrist

Linda chose the eleventh floor, and the elevator soon moved up.

Since it was just one floor up, it took just a few seconds for the elevator to reach the eleventh floor. The elevator stopped, and the doors opened.

Stepping out of the elevator, Alden and the others were shocked. Their jaws dropped. This was the case for all of them, except teacher Linda and the cold silver-haired beauty Chloe.

The whole floor was just one large room built entirely from stone. What was even more shocking, the walls were covered in weapons.

But most importantly, there were ten square-shaped arenas on this floor. The arenas were on a higher ground than the floor, so you needed to climb up a few stairs to get on.

Not long after, the other elevators arrived, and the other children from class 1-A arrived on the eleventh floor.

Of course, there were thirty children in the whole class. A few elevators could not fit them all at once.

The elevators went down again, and in a few minutes, they returned with the rest of the students.

There was no exception. They were all shocked at the size of the eleventh floor and the thousands of weapons exhibited on the wall.

As for Alden, he had already come to himself and was secretly stealing glances at Chloe. Not just him but Carol was stealing glances at her as well. Though the beauty rejected and humiliated him in front of the class, he did not give up. She was just too beautiful to give up on.

"Close your mouth, or you may swallow a fly," Linda said, snapping the students still captivated by the interior of the eleventh floor, out of their daze. She probably intended it to sound like a joke, but her stern voice made it sound more like an order.

"We will only use one arena today," Linda spoke as she walked toward the closest arena, and the students followed behind her.

"In the future, we would use at most three arenas. The reason there are so many arenas is that we would have joint lessons and would need more arenas."

Clap!

She clapped her hands together. "Now, enough about that. You have an hour to find the weapons you like. After that one hour, I would randomly select a pair of you to spar."

Linda then walked away from the children and leaned on the wall, watching indifferently.

The children quickly walked away from the group, each walking in the direction of the weapon they had in mind. Thus, in no time, the group disbanded, and the only ones left were Alden, Neo, Owen, and Chloe.

"Let's go and choose a weapon," Alden said with a smile. Unlike the other children, he had no clue what weapon to choose. "Let's first check out the spear section?"

"Haha..." Neo rubbed the back of his head. "I already have a weapon in mind. So if you don't mind accompanying me to pick it up, after I pick it up, we can go together and take a look at the spear section."

"No problem." Alden smiled. "What about you, Owen?" He turned to Owen.

"I-I will a-accompany you." He muttered quietly.

"Do you have a weapon in mind?" Neo asked.

"I-I...do," Owen replied. However, his reply was so quiet that Alden and Neo did not hear him. To them, it sounded more like Owen sighed.

"Well, there is no hurry. We have an hour, so we will all choose our weapons." Alden said.

As they were about to go and search for a weapon, Alden noticed Chloe standing alone.

The girls in class had already formed groups, but Chloe was left out. Not because no one wanted her in their group. It was the opposite. They all wanted a beauty like her in their group, but Chloe had that ice air surrounding her that made the others afraid to approach her.

But Alden knew better than that. He did not want to judge her without actually knowing her. She might be just misunderstood.

He thought she might be in a similar situation as him. He pretended to be strong on the outside but, in fact, was a weakling. While she just might look cold and distant, she might be friendly.

Alden walked closer to her. "Do you want to join us?" He asked her with a gentle smile on his face.

She turned to him.

Seeing her up close, Alden felt like his heart would jump out of his chest. With her beautiful silver eyes and long silver eyelashes, she resembled a fairy.

"Scram." She said coldly.

Alden did not expect this reply, but still, he kept his smile. 'Now I see why she was left out.' He thought. All his previous thoughts about her being misunderstood vanished.

"Hey!" Neo stepped in, angry. "What is it with your attitude? He was just being nice. You could have politely refused him."

"It's alright, Neo." Alden pulled Neo by the arm. "It's not a big deal. Don't make a fuss over it."

"No, it is a big deal!" Neo shouted. "She was being unnecessarily rude. She owes you an apology."

"What does me being rude to him have anything to do with you?" Chloe asked coldly.

"Of course it has!" Neo replied angrily. "He is my friend."

"What is the matter here?" Carol asked from afar. His two lackeys, the one with the block-shaped head and the overweight one, followed closely behind him.

"This has nothing to do with you!" Neo snapped. "She owes us an apology, that is all."

Carol walked closer, and he leaned toward Neo. "Of course, this has something to do with me." He said, his voice threatening. "She is mine, fu.cker. She can insult whoever she wants."

Owen hid behind Alden.

'Crap!' Alden could not help but get worried. 'This could escalate quickly.' He thought. 'If it comes to physical confrontation, my cover would be blown out. The fact that I am a weakling.

No, I must prevent this. If found out, they will bully me. Neo is from a beast-taming family, so he does not fear them. But even though he said he would protect me, we will not always be together. I cannot rely on him to protect me. It is better to just avoid it.'

"Fu.cker, remember this." Carol put his finger on Neo's forehead. "I am behind her. She. Is. Mine."

"Don't touch me..." Neo clenched his fist and was about to throw it at Carol.

"Enough!" Alden shouted. "She does not need to apologize. Let's leave."

"The humans are not humans without relationships, without friends," Neo spoke angrily. He wanted to fight, but his friends did not, and he did not plan to trample on the will of his friends, so he was not going to fight. "Without friends, we are nothing." He continued. "Without friends, we are just empty beings. I learned this the hard way."

"Let's go." Neo pulled Alden for the arm. "You have embarked on that path. But sooner or later, you will regret it." Neo said and walked off from Chloe, pulling Alden behind him. And Owen followed behind them.

Chloe was left behind with Carol and his lackeys. However, she did not pay attention to Carol. She was in deep thought, her eyes wide open.

"Friends?" She muttered. "Without friends, we are empty…"

A few seconds later, a slight smile curled up from the corners of her mouth, brightening her cold face.
