Status

"Status" Ali called for the system screen as he was waiting for the traffic light to clear.

He didn't have much time to read through everything in detail and understand all the functions clearly since yesterday, so he wanted to check them again. Nice and slow this time.

As his words ended, a red holographic screen appeared in front of his face, with small letters written in black.

Ali checked all his system's screen and read everything slowly.

A smile came to his face seeing he was good at his job which was programming and testing various games and fixing their bugs before their release, just the skills he mastered playing games all day had made him an expert gamer even in system's eyes.

Ignoring those things, Ali's eyes passed through the quest and shop option. But he ignored them since he'll get things done later on, for both of them.

Since he didn't have any Villain Points(VP) he didn't know if getting 1000 points was easy or hard. As for committing evil deeds, the system didn't explain much about what things were considered villainous and what not, so Ali just planned to slowly check his ideas later on.

I mean, is a villain just some stupid psycho who does bad things and get a bad name, or is it something that have it's own set of standard that separates itself from petty criminals and hooligans.

Ali looked at the role option, and lines of new texts appeared in a separate small pop up window to explain what it is.

[Stepping stone - The fate has written you a role of a stepping stone for the protagonist. Your destiny is to get mad, mocked, face slapped, beaten and betrayed or framed and forgotten. Be proud that your fall leads to the rebuilding and shuffling of everything later on.]

[??? _ unknown role, as you have deviated from your plot.]

Sighing at the summary of the stepping stone, Ali just moved past it at high speed.. Every time he reads that word, he seems to imagine himself living that kind of life, which is just so damn miserable.

Moving onto the next topic which talked about titles, Ali clicked to see their details.

[Devil's chosen - Beware that the Devil pays attention to you. ??? . make sure to not disappoint him, for his anger spells doom, a fate which is worse than a million eternal damnation in hells.]

[Newb Villain - You're someone who's just starting his journey of villainy. You're a newb.]

Finally his eyes landed on the gift option and as he clicked to expand, the two items inside became visible to him in detail..

System's gift - Newbie Pack

Seeing your predicament of turning stupid in the presence of the protagonist, the mighty system grants you your first defense.

'The halo of a helpless villain'

A cheaper and weakened version of the original villain's halo.

The only function of this is to protect the host from the aura of protagonists under class C.

To upgrade this halo further and enable other functions, check the options at the 'must have villain items list' inside the system shop.

"And that system boasted about this cheap gift." Ali said, reading the description of the so-called mighty system's gift.

[To receive this gift press yes. Or say merge/accept/equip..]

Hearing the autonomous fixed reply, Ali just clicked on the yes button, and waited.

One second

Two second

Three seconds

But there was nothing. He didn't feel a thing. He doubted if it even worked or not.

But then the system popped up informing him that [Aura protection applied successfully.]

"Guess this halo is too weak for me to feel any changes."Ali said, as he confirmed his body and status didn't change at all.

Ignoring the system's cheap gift, Ali turned his attention to the second gift, the Devil's gift.

"Since it's someone who can beat the crap out of a system and send it to help me, he should be pretty op and generous, right?"Ali muttered and clicked upon it, feeling curious about what he might receive next.

"Maybe it's something that can turn me into the invincible villain, or an immortal cultivator, or a superhero or something."

"Here it goes." Ali opened his eyes excitedly to check this gift, yet what he saw next stumped him silent.

[To unlock the Devil's gift and learn its details, 2500 VP are required.]

[Currently the host is also too weak to use the Devil's gift.]

[As the Devil's gift requires a minimum intelligence stat of 25 and vitality of 30.]

Ali read the notification and went silent. It's freaking asked him to pay for it first.

"Is it still called a gift, if I'm buying it myself?" Ali thought and ignored this gift option too.

It's just like when last year Shiva ordered something, chose his address and selected pay on delivery option. And that was his birthday gift.

'Why is everyone so stingy around me?' Ali couldn't help but think in his heart.

But this difficulty to attain the gift easily also made him more sure that this was something special and the wait will be worth it.

"Looks like this system is forcing me to turn into a proper villain ASAP." Ali said, thinking of his curiosity and greed, plus all the excitement over this challenging future.

Finally his eyes landed on the final gift which was actually a system feature called "A touch of gold"

This feature activates automatically every time he becomes a life and death enemy with any protagonist.

According to what system said to him before it went to sleep, this feature could let him understand his enemy's goldenfinger or lend him a helping hand randomly.

Like for Kevin's case, it could either lend him his wishing heart for a couple of wishes or some insight over this golden finger and learn how it works and what it's limits are. It's entirely random. Just like a lottery.

This feature makes sure, no enemy protagonist who's out for his life, can stay hidden from him. Atleast their gold fingers can't hide from him.

Curious to see what this noice feature can give him, Ali clicked upon the screen and it opened beautifully. And so did Ali's mouth in surprise.

"Is this for real?" Ali said surprisedly, staring at the screen at front.

[Seeing that the current host is too weak compared to the enemy protagonist, A touch of gold grants you one of his golden finger gifts.]

[Kevin's wishing heart made true to his wish of having learned fighting. Teaching him all the fight arts he saw on TV or movies.]

[Thus the feature allows you this same wish.]

[Gift duration - Until Kevin is alive.]

***{System note - Do great things as a villain and make your sleeping system proud.

But always remember, a villain who's nothing without a system, is no true villain.}

###

Author note - Thought I'd explain all the things related to system to you guys first.
