CHAPTER22: PREDATOR AND HIS PREY (2)

Over the course of time, two seasons came and went. 

As autumn drew to a close in Heatherton kingdom, a fierce chill began to settle over the land. Winter had arrived with a fury, blanketing the countryside in fluffy snow that piled high against the walls of the castle. The trees stood bare and silent, stripped of their golden glory by the freezing gales that razed across the landscape. The rivers and streams that once flowed freely were now encased in a glittering sheath of ice that shimmered in the pale sunlight. 

The village folk huddled up close to one another, shivering in their thick woolen coats and furs. Snow gathered in the eaves of their homes and on the thatched roofs, burdening them down as they formed creative shapes and patterns. Yet amidst the bleakness, there was also magic in the air. Winter had embraced the kingdom with an abundance of breathtaking beauty, putting on a tantalizing display of glittering icicles and frosted glass-like forests.
