The Dark Knight Trailer 1

DC Studios The Dark Knight Official Trailer

[0:00 – 0:05]

MUSIC: Hans Zimmer – "Why So Serious?" begins to play faintly: a distant, unsettling synth drone.

VISUAL:

The Stardust Studios logo appears in complete silence, flickering slightly like a faulty film reel.

The DC Studios logo slowly fades in over a grainy, storm-grey background.

As it dissolves, we hear a faint, static hum.

 SFX: A quiet beep… beep…, like a tape recorder beginning to roll.

[0:05 – 0:15]

JOKER (V.O., low, amused tone):

"Tell them your name."

MUSIC: Zimmer's track begins layering in whispery, discordant strings.

UNKNOWN MAN (V.O., shaking, scared):

"…Brian."

JOKER (V.O., giggling softly):

"Are you the real Batman?"

[0:15 – 0:25]

VISUAL:

Hard cut to Bruce Wayne and Alfred standing in stillness, watching an off-screen TV.

MUSIC: "Why So Serious?" builds—subtle, anxious percussion kicks in like an irregular heartbeat.

VISUAL (news footage):

Lower third reads: BREAKING: BATMAN DEAD?

A man, shaking and tied to a chair, wears a crude, obviously fake Batman costume.

His hands are bound with duct tape; his face is bloody.

JOKER (V.O., darker now):

"No? No? Ha… then why do you dress up like him?"

[0:25 – 0:34]

VISUAL:

A hand grabs the cowl and rips it off, revealing the terrified face of the man underneath.

Cut to Bruce Wayne's face—stony and still, his jaw clenched.

Alfred stares ahead, silent, haunted.

[0:35 – 0:45]

JOKER (V.O., voice tightening):

"Look at me."

VISUAL:

Quick flashes of the Joker's red smile. He lifts the man's chin.

The fake Batman is trembling, barely able to look up.

JOKER (shouting, almost feral):

"LOOK AT ME!"

VISUAL: Sudden cut to black—complete silence.

MUSIC: Drops to a deep, foreboding boom—a dread-filled bass note from Zimmer.

[0:46 – 0:50]

SFX: Flashbulbs popping, muffled voices—a tense air.

MUSIC: Transition into Hans Zimmer's "I'm Not a Hero." Slow, ominous strings rise beneath the ambient chaos.

VISUAL:

Press cameras fire rapidly as Commissioner Gordon enters GCPD headquarters, his face lined with exhaustion.

He pulls off his glasses and wipes his brow before stepping into a secure office.

[0:51 – 0:56]

VISUAL:

Inside, Gordon sits opposite the mayor at a round table, folder in hand.

MAYOR (serious):

"What do we know about him?"

GORDON (V.O.):

"We have nothing."

[0:57 – 1:02]

VISUAL:

A man in a grey suit stands before a building, a Joker clown mask dangling from his hand—only his back is visible.

GORDON (V.O., continued):

"No prints. No DNA. Nothing."

[1:03 – 1:07]

VISUAL:

A close-up of a Joker playing card—its edges charred—as it curls into ash above an open flame.

MUSIC: "I'm Not a Hero" begins to build with a soft, deliberate percussion—grim and steady.

[1:08 – 1:15]

VISUAL:

Rooftop at dusk—Batman, Gordon, and Harvey Dent argue, Dent animated while Batman stands immovable.

Cut to Dent facing reporters, forcing a polished smile.

Cut to Gordon leading a SWAT team through a corridor.

Cut to Bruce, in full Batsuit but cowl down, gazing over Gotham as Alfred approaches him.

[1:16 – 1:19]

VISUAL:

A police funeral. Officers line up with rifles.

The three-volley salute cracks through the air, echoing over a sea of uniforms.

MUSIC: Zimmer's strings swell.

[1:20 – 1:24]

JOKER (V.O., chillingly amused):

"You see… you changed things… forever. There's no going back."

VISUAL:

A towering inferno of cash blazes, flames licking the concrete walls.

The Joker stands before it, his back to us, arms slightly raised—utterly motionless in the fiery glow.

[1:25 – 1:29]

VISUAL:

A car screeches around a corner.

From the darkness above, Batman drops onto the roof, crushing it inward, cape spread wide.

Glass shatters; the criminals inside erupt in panic.

[1:30 – 1:34]

JOKER (V.O., continuing):

"To them… you're just a freak."

VISUAL:

The Joker now stands alone in the middle of an empty night-lit street, a pistol dangling at his side—fully revealed at last.

JOKER (softly):

"Like me."

[1:35 – 1:38]

SFX: BOOM!

VISUAL:

A massive explosion tears through a building. Concrete erupts outward; people scream; glass rains down.

Smoke billows, filling the frame.

[1:39 – 1:42]

MUSIC: Hans Zimmer's "Like a Dog Chasing Cars" ignites—rapid strings and chaotic drums rising.

Quick-cut MONTAGE:

Batman floors three goons in a narrow corridor.

A man in a black, skull-like mask trades brutal blows with Batman.

Rachel Dawes and Harvey Dent look at eachother, hands locked; her other hand reveals a subtle engagement ring.

The Joker, grinning, saunters into a lavish party and walks straight toward Rachel with unnerving focus.

[1:43 – 1:49]

MUSIC: Builds steadily.

VISUAL:

Gotham in chaos.

A police car flips in mid-air, captured in slow motion.

A mob of people fights to push into a building.

[1:50 – 1:55]

BRUCE WAYNE (V.O.):

"I knew they wouldn't go down without a fight…"

VISUAL:

Batman brawls inside a shadowy warehouse.

Harvey Dent is led away by police.

A teenage boy's silhouette stands before glowing Batcomputer screens.

BRUCE WAYNE (V.O., continued):

"…but they crossed the line."

[1:56 – 2:04]

MUSIC: Intensifies.

ALFRED (V.O.):

"You crossed the line first, sir. In their desperation, they turned to a man they didn't fully understand."

VISUAL:

A grainy security feed glitches as the Joker waves at the camera.

Batman stands alone atop a mound of smoking rubble, cape billowing in the wind.

[2:05 – 2:13]

ALFRED (V.O., continued):

"Some men, Master Wayne, aren't looking for anything logical… they can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with…"

VISUAL:

The Joker presses a knife to a man's face.

Extreme close-up: the blade gleams near the man's eye.

ALFRED (V.O., concluding):

"Some men just want to watch the world burn."

Cut to Black for a moment and then shows…Flames engulf the background as the Joker walks away, never looking back.

[2:14 – 2:19]

VISUAL:

The Joker holds a knife to a man's mouth, his painted face framed in an unsettling close-up.

JOKER (smiling):

"Why so serious?"

[2:20]

SFX: Sudden hard cut to black.

Joker's distorted laughter echoes—slow and drawn out.

[2:21 – 2:26]

VISUAL:

THE DARK KNIGHT logo fades in from black—a deep-steel texture surrounded by sparks and smoke.

Jaenet333:

 I have goosebumps after watching that… Heath's Joker looks insane.

BatFan88:

God, the tone of this is perfect. It's everything I wanted and more.

Manord344:

Six. More. Months. This wait is going to kill me.

Tactiaedee:

That new suit reveal is slick finally more armored but still very Batman. Nolan and Adler has cooked up something great.

Warrice44:

Harvey Dent is definitely turning into Two-Face. I feel like we'll see more focus on Bruce and Harvey in the next one. This one felt like a Joker trailer.

Harryosbirn:

I'm calling it now… Rachel's dying.

Aravebeats:

The beginning though holy shit. It had me hooked immediately.

JonahObsessed:

The score sounds great if what we heard in the trailer is the actual score, then yeah, I'm in.

EndOf434e:

Not gonna lie, I thought nothing was going to top Superman, but this might just do it.

MCEverest:

DC keeps winning, man. They just keep one-upping themselves again and again. Superman blew me away, and now this trailer drops?? I'm so pumped… let's fucking go.

Peterwilcik33:

My dad was the one who got me into comics. He loved Batman … like, really loved him. Watching this trailer just hit me hard… I wish he was around to see this new age of superhero movies. He would've absolutely lost his mind over this. Feels bittersweet, but I'll be watching this one for him.

@JensenAckles

This movie is something special. Loved every second of making it.

Replies to @JensenAckles:

@BatStan89:

THE Batman is here.

@WaywardCas:

Why did you have to die, Dean? The Supernatural ending still haunts me.

@DCSuperfan23:

How many Batman movies are we getting?? Will it be a trilogy or will there be more?

@Rogue1646:

Love you, Jensen. You ARE the greatest Batman.

@Mikelaie233:

Jensen… real question: Are you bringing any of the Supernatural fam into the DCU?

Replies to @danieladler:

@GymFreak25:

Damn, this trailer is fucking phenomenal. I was so wrong about Heath.

@Misieurcmiancx:

April: Captain America 2. May: The Dark Knight.

Comic book fans are eating a full-course meal.

@DCSuperfan23:

Cap 2 is gonna suck just like Thor 2. Watch Batman destroy it.

Marvel should give up at this point.

@Halendy:

Stop with this tribalistic BS. Just enjoy both movies, man.

@HaleyDunphy:

I'm so confused — is this the second part of that Batman movie or something new?

@danieladler the title of this movie is confusing and stupid for normal people like us.
