#03-Sylver Cielo

Sylver Cielo never thought that Ruby Alasdair was a very intelligent woman.

If the Duke's daughter was this intelligent, if she was this determined, then why were there rumors that this woman could never socialize properly? Why do people say that she is a timid woman? Did Ruby Alasdair deliberately give that impression to people because she wanted to hide her true nature? But, why?

No, rather than that, Sylver had to solve this problem immediately. There's a rat that dares to make noise in his mansion and that damn rat is from Duke Eclair? That old fox indeed never stopped looking for ways to take him down! But, why did he involve Duke Alasdair's daughter?

"You." Sylver brought out his sword in his right hand. Silver and purple light appeared along with the sword. "Tell me the truth. Are you the person sent by Duke Eclair to spy on me? You want to kill me, don't you?"

"No, I—"

Sylver immediately swung his sword and silver light came out of the sword. The light shot towards the man with the mole and sent him flying. Sylver continued walking, ignoring the fears of his servants. He glanced at Ruby and the woman didn't look scared at all.

Unconsciously, Sylver grinned.

This woman was starting to attract his attention!

"I thought he would use his purple light."

Ruby's low murmur was heard by Sylver who was walking past her. The Duke stopped and frowned. He gave Ruby a confused look. The woman only raised one eyebrow and looked at the man sent by Duke Eclair.

"Duke Sylver, your prey will escape."

"Tsk." Sylver focused back on the man with the mole and took out a dagger from his clothes. Then, he threw the dagger at the man who was trying to run away and it hit him in the back of the thigh. The man screamed and fell. Sylver stuck his sword right next to the man's face and crouched in front of him. "Hey, you damn little mouse. Did you know that the dagger I threw at you had very deadly poison?"

"What?!"

"If you still cherish your life, then tell me the truth. Why do you want to kill Princess Ruby Alasdair?"

"I don't—"

"I have the antidote," Sylver said in a sharp tone. "Choose wisely, you damn rat."

The man screamed again and his eyes widened as Sylver pushed the dagger deeper into his back thigh. Blood spurted out and even stained Sylver's handsome face but the Duke didn't care.

"She saw everything!" shouted the man finally. He still wants to live. He has a younger sister to protect. He accepted the job as a spy because Duke Eclair promised to pay for all his littler sister's treatment and medicine. He didn't care if he had to get his hands dirty with blood as long as his little sister could recover and be healthy. "That woman saw me wanting to put deadly poison in your drink! I'm scared. I knew she would never tell anyone because the woman was known as a timid woman but I didn't want to take any chances! I covered her mouth and dragged her to this place and drowned her in the lake!"

Sylver gritted his teeth. He pulled his sword out of the grass and pointed it at the man's neck.

"Well, thank you for your confession. I will make sure you go to hell without feeling any pain at all!"

"Wait, I already confessed everything! I still have a sick little sister! Forgive me just this once. I promise I won't work for Duke Eclair again. I will go as far as possible from the Graziano empire together with my little sister. Forgive me." The man looked at Ruby. "Princess, spare me!"

"Shut your mouth and pray that you don't suffer on your way to hell!"

When Sylver was about to stab the sword into the man's nape, Ruby clicked her tongue and screamed.

"Stop it, Duke!"

Along with Ruby's scream, a sword flew towards Sylver. With one swift movement, Sylver deflected the sword that was flying towards him until the sword fell somewhere else. Ruby looked over, and so did Sylver. A man with golden hair and blue eyes walked towards them. The expression on his face was cold and his eyes were sharp.

"Brother Rey?" called Ruby.

Reynold Alasdair turned his head and frowned when he saw his little sister's body soaking wet. His hands clenched tightly into fists and his jaw tightened. He looked at Shery who immediately looked down. The body of the maid who was in charge of accompanying Ruby Alasdair was shaking.

"Why is my little sister wet like this? What did you do that you couldn't look after her well, Shery?!" Reynold snapped.

Seeing that, Ruby immediately moved. She stood in front of Shery and stared intently at her eldest brother. Ruby's pink eyes glared sharply, making Reynold freeze.

"Don't yell at my maid, Brother Rey!" Ruby exclaimed. "I'm wet because I was drowned by that man," Ruby pointed at the spy sent by Duke Eclair. "He tried to kill me and now Duke Sylver is trying to kill him!"

Reynold's blue eyes turned to the man who was still grimacing in pain. "You dare attempt to murder my little sister?!" he growled.

When Ruby saw that Sylver intended to kill the man again and this time Reynold wanted to help him, Ruby groaned. She ran towards the man and stretched out her arms to protect her so that Sylver and Reynold didn't kill him.

"Princess Ruby!"

"Ruby Alasdair!"

Sylver and Reynold looked at each other. Then, the two men looked back at Ruby.

"I don't want to see a murder before my eyes," Ruby said in a cold tone. "I don't want him to be killed. Do you have the heart to watch me have a heart attack because of the shock of seeing the brutal murder you are going to carry out on this man?"

"He wants to drown you, Ruby," said Reynold in a cold tone. "Do you think I would just keep quiet when I knew someone wanted to kill you?"

"You never even spoke to me all this time and always thought of me as a stranger. It's as if I don't exist before your eyes!" Ruby exclaimed.

Reynold was silent. The man gritted his teeth and looked down.

"And you, Duke Sylver," Ruby said in a sharp tone towards the Duke. "Don't you have a heart? You heard him say that he was forced to do this because his little sister was sick and needed a lot of medicine to cure her! He was forced to commit crimes ordered by that old fox so that he could earn money to buy medicine!"

Ruby helped the man to stand up and told the male servants around her to help him.

"Take him inside and treat his wounds." Ruby looked at the man. "You won't die because it's not a poisoned dagger."

The man with the mole blinked. "What?"

"It's your own fault that you believed me when I said the dagger was poisonous. If I didn't say that, you wouldn't be willing to admit your crime." Sylver put away his sword and shrugged his shoulders.

"This man is just like your master. He is much more dangerous than a fox."

"Thank you for your compliment, Princess Ruby." Sylver bent down and placed his right hand on his left chest. The man was now looking at Reynold. "Well, what are you doing in my mansion, little Duke?"

Reynold snorted. "I'm just looking for my Father. When I came home, the butler said that my Father and Ruby were here. I threw my sword at you because I heard Ruby tell you to stop."

Sylver was silent again. Then, his purple eyes looked at Ruby again. The woman was shivering from the cold. Sylver ordered one of his maids to come over and take the towel from her. Then, Sylver put the towel on Ruby's tiny body. Realizing that, Ruby looked up and raised an eyebrow while Reynold stared at Sylver as if he wanted to tear the man apart.

"I want to ask something," Sylver whispered. Ruby glanced at him sharply. "How do you know the power of my sword?"

What?

"You were mumbling about the purple light on my sword when I used the silver light on my sword to attack that man," said Sylver. "No one knows what power my sword has, Ruby Alasdair. Except for the people I fought with."
