#09-Stop Trying To Die In Front Of Me!

Sylver Cielo is very worried about Theodore Cielo, his only son.

However, for some reason, the Duke felt that something was wrong with the situation around him. Ruby Alasdair was the only person who said that Theodore was in danger. She also asked Richard Alasdair to teleport all of them to the Arvanez forest. After that, Ruby said that Theodore was being held captive in an abandoned house.

To be honest, Sylver was very confused and curious about how Ruby knew all of this. However, Sylver prioritized his son's safety. Then, the strangeness began to be felt. Sylver stopped running and frowned. Behind him, Reynold Alasdair and Richard Alasdair also stopped running.

"Duke?" Reynold called in a confused tone. He frowned. "What is it?"

"Your little sister," Sylver said in a low tone and swallowed hard. He clenched his fists at his sides. "I haven't heard Ruby Alasdair's voice since earlier."

Hearing that, Reynold and Richard looked back. The two men froze and widened their eyes. Their body posture made Sylver immediately realize that Ruby was not with them. The man turned around, cursed under his breath, and ran back to his original place to look for Ruby.

His instincts told him that the woman knew better about Theodore's whereabouts. If Ruby wasn't with them, that meant the woman had changed her destination. The woman went alone to the place where Theodore was, at the risk of meeting the traitor.

Dammit!

Sylver accelerated his run. He didn't care about the tree branches that hurt his hands and handsome face. He also thought that Reynold and Richard who were running behind him wouldn't care if his body was injured as long as they could save their little sister.

"Duke, your little brother—"

Reynold's words were cut off by Sylver.

"I'm sure Theodore is with Ruby." The Duke said in a firm tone.

Then, Sylver saw a river not far in front of him. He also saw Theodore hiding in the bushes and Ruby being beaten by the traitorous knight. Sylver's purple eyes widened. His heart was beating so fast that it made his chest hurt. Then, Sylver could hear Theodore shouting for Ruby and the traitorous knight kicked Ruby in the back until she fell into the fast flowing river.

"Princess!"

Sylver screamed and immediately jumped into the river to save Ruby. He was sure Reynold would take care of Theodore and Richard would teach the traitor a lesson using his magic. The Duke cursed when the river's strong current made it difficult for him to swim. His purple eyes stared intently at the surroundings, trying to find Ruby's figure.

He had removed the sword he had been carrying so as not to increase the weight of his body while in the water. If he didn't find Ruby soon, the woman would definitely faint because she couldn't get oxygen in this fast-flowing river. Her tiny body must be shivering right now.

Dammit!

Where is that woman?!

###

Ruby Alasdair cursed under her breath about her very unlucky life.

Before entering the world of this novel, she jumped into the river just to save the novel she wrote with all her heart. She must have died in that cold river because currently she is in Ruby's body, who she created as an extra character in the novel. And now, she was killed by being kicked into a fast flowing river just to save the son of the Second Male Lead.

From today, Ruby Alasdair will hate water forever! She swore that if she could survive this river, she would come to the traitor, torture him, and send his head as a gift to Duke Eclair.

In her previous life in the modern world, Ruby was good at swimming. But, she always swam in harmless swimming pools or the sea, not in fast-flowing and dangerous rivers like this! Not to mention that she was wearing a dress that was quite heavy and caused her to be pulled further by the current and sink further.

Dammit!

Ruby tried her best to keep breathing. She fumbled with her dress and frowned as she held something. Ruby took it and her pink eyes widened. A dagger. The woman grinned. She remembered keeping this dagger in her dress when she was in the room. Ruby tore her dress using the dagger so that now her long dress was short to her knees. This way, Ruby can swim to the surface.

However, another problem arose. Just as she was about to swim to the surface, something caught her leg and made her unable to move. The woman looked down and frowned when she saw something like a long wild plant like rope tied around her ankles. Ruby started to panic. The oxygen in her lungs began to run low. She tried to free her feet from the strange object but to no avail.

Am I going to die a second time? Ruby muttered to herself. The woman felt her eyes starting to feel heavy. Everything she saw was blurry. Her eyelids started to close. However, before it completely closed, Ruby's pink eyes caught the figure of a man swimming towards her.

The man's face looked panicked, as did his purple eyes. The man's mouth was open, as if shouting something but Ruby didn't hear or understand what the man said. When the man was in front of her, Ruby only found out his identity.

Sylver Cielo.

###

Sylver sharpened his vision when he saw a golden-haired woman trying to free herself from whatever was binding her ankles.

The man was wide-eyed. He was confused about why Ruby Alasdair's dress had become short but Sylver decided not to make a big deal out of it. He swam quickly towards Ruby who looked weakened. Sylver screamed, calling Ruby's name even as water entered his mouth. Ruby managed to look up at him but those beautiful pink eyes lost their light. Slowly, Ruby's eyes closed and Sylver cursed harshly in his heart.

Sylver immediately removed the strange object that was binding Ruby's ankle but it didn't work. The man opened his right palm and silver and purple light appeared along with his sword. Then, Sylver cut the object and lost the sword again. He hugged Ruby's waist and immediately swam to the surface.

The two managed to reveal themselves and Sylver coughed. He looked at Ruby but the woman didn't move in his arms. Her beautiful face looked very pale and her lips were blue.

"Dammit!" Sylver cursed again. He swam to the river bank and lifted Ruby's tiny body and laid her on the ground beside the river. Then, Sylver raised himself and knelt beside Ruby. She took Ruby's hand, then her cheek. The woman's body is so cold! Sylver immediately patted Ruby's cheek lightly.

Water dripped from her silver hair onto the beautiful face beneath. "Princess? Princess Ruby, open your eyes." However, Ruby remained motionless. "Dammit, Ruby Alasdair! Open your eyes!"

Sylver felt that Ruby's condition was becoming increasingly worrying, especially since the woman's chest wasn't moving. The Duke froze. His purple eyes widened. He immediately pressed Ruby's chest several times while counting. This is the first aid for drowning people that Sylver learned from a teacher and a book he read.

Then, Sylver lifted Ruby's chin and pressed his lips to Ruby's blue lips. He blew his breath into Ruby's mouth and repeated the process.

The sound of people running made Sylver turn his head briefly. He was grateful that Theodore was fine in Reynold's arms. Richard immediately knelt beside his little sister and watched what Sylver did to his little sister. When Sylver pressed his lips to Ruby's again, Richard and Reynold widened their eyes and froze.

"Hey!"

"Shut up!" Sylver growled. "I'm trying to save your little sister!"

Richard was silent. He was indeed a high level wizard and very talented. But, of all the magic he learned, almost all of it was magic that was used to fight or attack someone. Richard had never studied healing magic because in the magic tower they had other people who were talented in that field.

When Sylver finally did the same process five times, Ruby opened her eyes. Her pink eyes widened. She got up in one swift movement and coughed. Water came out of her mouth and Sylver took a deep breath. He sat on the ground, combing his long silver hair with his fingers and looking at Ruby with an annoyed look.

"Stop trying to die in front of me again, Ruby Alasdair," Sylver growled in a low, dangerous tone.

Ruby, who was catching her breath and letting Richard rub her back to provide warmth, turned her head. She looked annoyed at Sylver.

"Well, I'm sorry. Next time, I will tell you in advance if anyone wants to push me into the river or kill me so that I don't have to die in front of you, Duke Sylver."

Sylver snorted and looked away.

For a moment, he felt like he had lost control of himself.
