Chapter 8: The Beginning of our first quest in another world

The day continued as Anastasia and I for the receptionist to be finished with signing me up for the Adventurer's guild. During the time we waited, we went around the town and did some sightseeing and other stuff. And also, Anastasia and I used some of the money that Knight captain Eric give us to buy us some brand new clothes and some cheap equipments.

Anastasia chose a small sword and a chest plate armor, and I picked up some small knives and some other stuffs.

To be honest, we were standing out in a strange and weird way in this town. So, changing our clothes and buying some new ones would be a great idea.

We bought clothes to fit in with the citizens of this town.

I'd say this is a good thing to buy clothes that blends in with the populous of this world.

After a small detour, we returned to the guild and continued to wait for the receptionist woman. When we came back the place was filled with lots of people who probably had just returned from their quest.

"Everywhere in here is filled with people." Anastasia said that as she looked around the building at the people standing by the reception desk.

"Um, I guess so. The people probably just came back from their various quests, and are just starting adventuring just like us. " I answered Anastasia.

"So, most of them are just starting off adventuring?!"

"Yeah."

Anastasia smiled with excitement showing on her face. Seeing that, I couldn't help but to smile in response to her happiness. Besides, who wouldn't be happy when a child is happy, or when someone you know is having a good time.

She's really happy right now... I also wish to be happy as her some day, when I do something wonderful in this world...

My heart is pounding like crazy in my chest, is this out of nervousness or out of some sort of fear? I don't even understand my own body, Aargh!

I couldn't control myself because of the thoughts of going on an adventure with Anastasia just made me feel nervous about it for apparently some reason. Maybe it was because Anastasia was my first encounter with someone from this world .

"Next up, Mr Kyle and his companion."

The receptionist called us up to collect my Adventurer's card. Although it took some time, but I won't complain. Walking up to the reception desk, I could feel all the anxiety bubbling up inside of me, and my heart began to beat faster and faster.

"Just calm down, Mr.Kyle, everything is going to be fine." Anastasia tried to calm me down by saying that everything will be fine.

It was the same receptionist who had helped us with the registration was the same person who filled out my guild card. Well, I thought that someone else would fill the card out.

"Here is your Adventurer's card, all filled out. If you want to ask any questions about the guild, the quest system or anything else, feel free to ask!" She asked as she handed me my guild card.

Nah,I don't have any questions for now. Maybe when I come back then I'll inquire about the guild. Because I have quests to do!

"No. Not for now, maybe next time when I have the time. "

"But..."

Anastasia tried to say something but didn't. I wish if she can just be confident in what she is saying...

"If you want, you can check out the quest board for your quests. You are an E-rank Adventurer, so you won't get the dangerous ones. All that you have to do is grab one of the posters that are in your rank-"

"Yeah, I know what I have to do. But thanks still!"

I cut the receptionist off before she could continue her saying what she have to say. All the other men were still staring at me.

"That guy is talking to our beautiful receptionist..."

"He's a dead man if I see him talk to her ever again. "

"He probably don't have anything to do than to be a menace to her."

They were talking shit about me... And Anastasia had a bad expression on her face, one that gives the impression that she's bored.

I found myself along with Anastasia standing in front of a giant wall filled with posters of the quests plastered all over it. There were people who were also there looking for a job to do.

Let's start off with a simple quest... how about hunting goblins or hunting for slimes? It would be simple if there wasn't any high-ranking level quest along them.

I bet people won't get confused and pick an hard quest by mistake...

"I don't know what kind of quest I should choose... what am I going to choose?"

"Um..."

I was Struggling to choose which one I should choose. It was getting overwhelming for me, and Anastasia also couldn't choose.

"Maybe we should go for something simple and easy to do. Slimes or goblins would do. " I suggested to Anastasia.

Anastasia just nodded in response to what I suggested. I guess she's only a child after all... so I shouldn't depend on her that much.

"Yeah , you should go for the one with the Slimes. Slimes are the most Weakest of monsters, and rarely does defend themselves. So one hundred percent I agree with going with the quests with the Slimes." Anastasia explained.

"So, you want us to choose the quest to gather three Slime cores?"

"Um, only if you wanted to..." Anastasia face turned red from embarrassment, and she starts to fidgeting with her fingers.

"You don't have to be embarrassed about anything, we're a team that will go out on quests together, so you need to learn how to communicate with me, alright?" I cautioned her, as I patted her head.

"Yes."

I carefully took off the poster of the Slime quest from the giant wall and went to show the receptionist.

"You chose a E-ranked monster extermination quest? All right, the Guild grants you the permission to take this quest. "

The receptionist woman stamped the poster and handed it back to me. And with that, we left the guild and began to make our way to the place where we hunts Slimes.
