First Day Blues

RINNNNNNNG RINNNNNG

Rex's alarm clock rang on a warm Monday morning. It felt strange, the summer went by in a heartbeat, but Rex didn't really mind, it was his first day at the #1 School in the country, and there was nothing he was more excited than then this.

During the weekend, Rex submitted his uniform information, as well as his Superhero costume that the school provides for new students. In the same day, the uniform came, a nice sky blue tuxedo, bright red tie and some dress shoes.

After a few minutes of doing his morning routine and putting on his clothes, Rex was ready to head out, grabbing his book bag and everything. That is until his mom came up to him.

"Rex d-do you have everything, books, pencils, notebooks?" His Mom asked.

Rex let out a annoyed sigh and turned to look at his worried mother.

"Yes mom I got everything, I'm gonna be late okay!" Rex exclaimed.

Before Rex left out the door his mom stopped him once again.

"And Rex, I-I'm proud of you alright" His mom said quietly.

Rex turned around in shock, it seemed like at first his dreams weren't supported, like his dreams didn't matter to his mother dearest, but now that changed.

Rex smiles and turned to his mom again, "Mom, I'll make sure to be the best hero at that school, I'll do it for you!" Rex said leaving out the door waving his mom goodbye.

It was a optimistic train ride to the campus, as usual, Rex checked the news for any active villainy but to his surprise nothing was really off today, it seemed like it was all peaceful in Neo New York, first time for everything I guess.

It was a Sharp 7:45AM when Rex arrived to the huge campus again, it felt so surreal, he wasn't just here on some bullshit, he was a real student now, it was, amazing.

Rex opened up his schedule from his phone, looking for the right room so he wouldn't be late on his first day.

"Grade 1 Class 1, Grade 1 Class 1, where the hell is this shit!" Rex said running around the halls.

After a minute of running he found it, a huge door with a sign on the side saying "Grade 1: Class 1" he immediately opened the door.

"Finally I made it!" Rex yelled coming into the class.

The class was quite small with few desk facing to the right of the room, on the right wall there was a electronic board and a teacher's stand.

Rex looked to the left and he seen 8 other students sitting glaring at him with a variety of different faces, and faces he's already seen.

"Rex you finally made it!" Sabrina said running to him.

"Oh hey Sabrina!" Rex said walking towards her bookbag in his hand.

"So this is where we're gonna be for the rest of our high school years huh?" Rex said looking around.

"I guess, so it seems the boys get actual dress pants for their uniform, the girls get skirts" Sabrina said looking down.

"Yeah what did you have in mind? Besides you look good in a skirt!" Rex said grinning.

"Gah! Don't say that!" Sabrina said putting the collar of her shirt over her face.

While they were talking, a huge robot came over and using his scanner, covered Rex in a red beam of light for a few seconds.

"What the hell was that!" Rex yelled.

"Oh him, yeah he was the first one here and he's been doing that to everyone" Sabrina said nonchalantly.

"Hello Rex, My name is M1cheal, it's nice to meet you!" The Robot Said out of his speaker.

M1cheal- Full Metal Hero- Although he lacks traditional powers, his robot body comes equipped with many weapons.

"Uh hi M1cheal, I genuinely didn't know sentient robots existed I can't lie." Rex said quietly.

"I know isn't technology great! My Master tuned me up nice and good so I can be of assistance to the human race!" M1cheal said.

"He talks like a human, he actually talks like a human, this is crazy!" Rex yelled.

Looked around the room and he saw a variety of people, some dude with bunny ears, a girl with white hair, and a pink haired girl too, it was so weird.

When Rex took his seat, there he was, entering the room was Orion.

Rex smiled and walked up to him

"So you finally made it old friend" Rex said with a smirk.

"Yeah, and what I said on that test date still stands, I will surpass you Rex!" Orion exclaimed.

"Come on man again with this, you're literally have a stronger power" Rex sighed.

Orion was just shrugged his shoulder and walked to his seat.

"Where the hell did he get this from!?" Rex thought.

"I don't know, but I'm gonna get to the bottom of this!" Rex thought again sitting down as the bell rang.

The classroom was a little bit silent for a minute, even though class started, no teacher was there to give them a lecture.

"What the hell is going on!" Rex said out loud.

"This is quite the situation, indeed" M1cheal said.

"Well I guess if there's no teachers, we might as well introduce ourselves" Sabrina said.

"Right!" The Rabbit guy jumped up on the chair.

"My name is Jake the Hare! And I'm gonna be the worlds fastest runner!" Jake yelled running around the room at supersonic speeds.

"Damn that guy is fast" Rex thought to himself.

Jake The Hare- Track Prodigy- Power: Super Speed- Self explanatory, can basically run as fast as he likes.

"Alright we get it!" Sabrina yelled as her hair was messed up from the speeds.

"Hey you with the headphones what's your deal!" Rex yelled.

The Dark Skinned kid in the headphones couldn't hear a thing he was saying and instead kept jamming to his music.

"Oh, his name is D-Jay!" M1cheal said once again from his speaker.

"His Power is Tempo, He by getting a rhythm he gains a variety of abilities" M1cheal said.

"Damn so you can scan anyone and get a whole Wikipedia on their powers and shit? You really are something!" Rex said.

"Aw complementing me isn't gonna make me like you or anything you jerk!" M1cheal said doing a little dance.

There was also a kid stuffing his face with a mountain sized pile of snacks on his desk.

"So uh, what's your story?" Orion said walking up to the guy.

The brown haired pale skinned boy swallowed his snacks and answered.

"Oh the names Owen, I can grow my body to how big I want" Owen says nonchalantly.

"So that's why you're always stuffing your face! Your power runs off body mass!" Rex says to him.

"Pretty much yeah" Owen says opening another bag of chips.

"Man so many people here are so interesting!" Rex said.

"So uh I guess we're the only girls here" Sabrina said with a nervous smiling and approaching a white haired girl and pink haired girl.

"Indeed, It seems so" The White haired girl said quietly.

"My name's Yui, i-it's nice to meet you" Yui said slowly reaching out her hand for a handshake, once again whispering.

Sabrina shook her hand and looked at the pink haired girl in the eye.

The pink haired girls eyes were ice cold, and she didn't look nervous at all.

"Angela, That's my name" Angela said quietly and putting her hoodie back on as she slightly trembles.

"That's great!" Sabrina said closing her eyes giving a nervous smile.

"Are you guys done with the meet and greets!" Some rich guy yelled in the class.

Rex got up from talking and confronted him.

"Who are you to tell us what to do huh?" Rex said walking up to him.

"And do you have a problem with that peasant boy!" The Rich kid said.

Rex's Pride was shot, but he didn't mind he looked at the rich kid from the leg up.

"You know, there was some rumors about a Freshman in the hero course enrolling in here from a recommendation and not from an actual test, I narrowed down my options, and seeing how BITCHMADE you are, it had to be you right?" Rex explained.

The rest of the class was silent as the two confronted each other.

"You're more clever then you look" The rich kid smiled.

"Listen up peasants! My name is Harrison Flameheart, the next chairman of my family! Remember my name well!" Harrison announced.

"Orion you're rich, you heard of this?" Rex said looking back.

"Of course, my family negotiates with the Flameheart family all the time, I heard that the put a lot of funding into this school" Orion explained.

"So it's all making sense! You're only here off of daddy's money! Not cause of hardwork!" Rex said looking in disgust.

"Unless you don't wanna get hurt, I suggest you get out of my face" Harrison says readying a fireball.

"Oh so we're doing this! Fine then! I'm not afraid to kick your ass in this school!" Rex says making a ball of water.

Before they could do anything else a door opened to their classroom, and everyone, even the two fighting students looked to see who it was.

"Woah kids, fighting on the first day isn't very professional for future heroes is it?" The Black masked man, Roughouser, said nonchalantly.

Everyone sat in their seats immediately not only in fear but out of respect as well.

"What the hell! The Number Two Hero is our goddamn teacher!? This school really is rich!" Rex thought to himself.

Everyone else in the class had a similar thought to them as they sat at their desk.

"Well I seen all of you socializing so you probably know each others names, so I guess role call is useless isn't it" Roughouser said leaning back in his chair.

The class was still silent as they looked at him.

"Oh yeah! Since this is your first time in a hero school I guess I should go over your schedule" Roughouser said standing up smiling.

"For the first half of school, I guess you can say it's just the same stuff you already been doing, you know, Math, Science, English, all that stupid shit!" Roughouser explained.

"I know it's required and all but that's boring, way more interested in the other stuff!" Roughouser said.

"After your required lunch time, which is amazing by the way, it's your hero studies classes, you know, Hero Laws, Hero Lectures and my favorite, Hero exercises!" Roughouser says.

"Wait what the hell is Hero Exercises!" Rex says getting up.

"Good question Water Kid! Hero exercises is basically just gym classes for you guys in the hero course, I'll have a activity for you in that class, you never know what I got cooking!" Roughouser says.

"But sadly they said we couldn't do that on the first day so I'll have to wait til tomorrow" Roughouser said hanging his head.

Rex and his classmates understood their schedule perfectly, mostly cause they already had this written down electronically but it was good to kill some class time with this lecture.

"Oh and one more thing, I know I'm technically you're teacher, but to me you're already heroes in training, that is my main priority kids!" Roughouser said.

After Roughousers Speech, he went straight into the academics, Most Kids in the classroom didn't mind but Rex was never good at the academic parts of school, but he would always get just enough to pass.

After what seemed like forever, The Freshman lunch bell rung and it was time to leave that classroom.

"Jesus Sabrina, those academic classes felt like agony!" Rex said sitting down with his lunch.

The Lunchroom was huge and it housed everyone from the freshman classes, including Support Course. The Lunch provider was a Robot who could fix anything they wanted in seconds, using real ingredients and no preservatives, not to mention healthy and delicious!

"Rex they're not so bad if you pay attention, everytime I look at you you're sleeping" Sabrina said taking a bite out of her taco.

"I can't help that class is boring, Roughouser does nothing but yap, but he is kinda funny sometimes" Rex said drinking his soda.

"So Sabrina I've been meaning to ask, about hero stuff!" Rex said.

"Alright shoot" She said looking at him.

"I'm not good at hostage situations, and I'm afraid that I would just run in without a plan, what should I do?" Rex asked.

"My advice? Set up a list of demands that are reasonable for both parties, and hold them until back up comes, rushing into a hostage situation with no plan is how people die Rex, always remember that." Sabrina explained.

Rex thought for a good second, her words making sense even with his limited knowledge.

"Man Sabrina, you know so much more than me, who needs Hero studies when I have you!" Rex said smiling.

"Flattering me isn't gonna make me happy Rex" Sabrina said looking the other ways.

"Anyway imma go to the can, keep my seat warm would ya!" Rex said getting up and leaving.

After Rex left the bathroom, he walked through the halls to go back to lunch, but one corridor was suspicious, he heard small noises and whispers in it.

"N-No, Please stop" The Whispers said.

With his hands still wet from washing his hands he coats his hands in water.

As he creeps closer to the source of the sound.

He sees it, Harrison pulling Yui's Snow white hair.

"Come on Yui, don't make me burn you again!" Harrison said smiling.

"HEY!" Rex yelled.

Harrison lets go of Yui's hair and looks at Rex in the eye.

"So it's you again, Peasant boy!" Harrison says smiling.

"What the hell are you doing to her! Huh! Answer me Harrison!" Rex yelled.

"Nothing much, just using my plaything from Junior High! It's none of your business!" Harrison yelled back.

Rex was angry, but the words of Sabrina circled through his mind.

He breathed deep, and talked.

"I don't care what your reasons are, there's no reason to ever put your hands on someone like that, and I'm not gonna let you hurt her." Rex said lowering his voice.

"Listen up Harrison, we still have thirty minutes til lunch ends, so how about a fight on the empty training grounds, nobody will even know we're there, if I win, Yui is gonna be free, don't talk to her, don't even look at her got it!" Rex said.

"Fine then, but if I win, you will never speak of what you seen" Harrison said glaring at Rex.

Yui ran to Rex in fear.

"A-Are you sure you can win, I've known Harrison for so long, his power is too much" Yui said whispering as she trembled.

"Don't worry, I'll make sure that you're safe, afterall, since we're in the same class that means we're friends right!" Rex said smiling at the scared girl.

"But how could you be friends with me, I-I'm so weak" Yui said tearing up and staring to silently cry.

"Why the hell does that matter! Weak, Strong that doesn't matter with how you treat someone, all that matters is their character! Besides, you got into this school, how does that make you weak!" Rex said to her.

"Find your purpose Yui, if you can do that, being a hero will be so much easier" Rex continued.

The words spoke to Yui's soul as she couldn't hold her feelings in anymore and the tears came streaming down her face.

Yui and Rex walked to the training ground, Twenty Minutes of lunch to spare, as Rex said, nobody was here, a completely empty field of grass to duke it out.

Yui ran to the other side to give the two space, and Rex stood on the other side of the grass field as Harrison looked at him.

"Are you sure you wanna do this peasant, your power isn't anything for me to worry about!" Harrison yelled.

"I'll show you what I'm made of, Yui will be free from you when I beat you down!" Rex yelled back.

It was cloudy outside but the Sun was peeking through, it was quite humid so there was plenty of water molecules in the area.

After a few seconds of waiting Rex ran, water coated on his hands for his techniques.

"This will be fun" Harrison whispered to himself as he conjured up fire.

"Flame Arrow!" Harrison yelled an Arrow of fire flying towards Rex.

"Damn it WATER GUN!" Rex said propelling a beam of water from his finger colliding with the fire and creating steam.

"Damn didn't know he had water manipulation, this could be bad!" Harrison thought to himself as the steam surrounded him.

Rex ran out of the steam throwing a jab that Harrison narrowly dodged. Harrison returned a kick that connected to Rex's ribs.

"Damn it he's faster than he looks!" Rex thought on the ground from the kick.

"Flamethrower!" Harrison said shooting a blast of fire directly towards Rex on the ground.

Rex rolled out of the way barely dodging it and getting a burn on his right arm.

"Damn it!" Rex said on his feet.

"Had enough already!" Harrison yelled.

Rex created a orb of water in his palm and ran towards Harrison at full speed.

Harrison responded by Shooting another Flamethrower but this time Rex was ready, Quickly dodging the blast and hitting the sphere of water directly into Harrison's stomach making him fly back.

Harrison coughed up from blood from the impact and immediately got serious.

Harrison released some tiny fireballs at rapid speeds.

"Shit!" Rex said running past the fire bullets.

"Water Gun! Machine Gun!" Rex yelled shooting a bunch of beams of water at the same speed of the fire.

All the bullets of both Fire and Water collide with each other.

Realizing their powers won't work, They both engage in hand to hand combat.

Rex throws a punch, but he gets blocked as Harrison throws elbow that Rex ducks.

Rex kick's Harrison in his stomach making his stagger, but Harrison punches Rex in his face causing his lip to bleed but Rex recovers quick and head butted Harrison in his nose, breaking it.

"Damn you peasant!" Harrison said kicking Rex away once again.

"Fine then, I'm going ALL OUT!" Harrison says coating his hands in blue fire, but burning himself in the process.

"What the hell? Blue fire?" Rex says whipping his face.

Harrison Conjures up the blue flames and releases his strongest attack.

"DRAGON'S ROAR!!!" Harrison yell's launching a blue dragon at Rex.

Rex panics, the attack is too large to dodge so he has to intercept the attack.

Rex waste no time and quickly gets all the water in the area and puts it into his Arm.

"WATER DRILL!" Rex yells.

The Drill collides with the Blue dragon, The Drill destroys the Dragon but Rex's arm is getting burned badly.

After a struggle the colliding attacks cause a huge explosion of steam that students everywhere heard.

Harrison breathes heavy after the attack as his hands suffered burns.

Rex was still standing but he was on his last leg, he couldn't take another attack.

"You're finished PEASANT!" Harrison said.

But the fire didn't conjure, the clouds, the clouds covered the sun completely, Harrison's main source of power.

"Damn it this is ba-" Harrison looked down, before he could finish his sentence, Rex lunged at him, blank expression on his face and supremely pissed off.

"JET PUNCH!" Rex yelled his fist propelling with the force of the water immediately connecting on Harrison's face, immediately making him lose a tooth.

Rex then throws Harrison into a tree and begins to pummel Harrison's face.

Teeth lost, Lip Busted and gushing blood, Liver Shoots, Rex even punched his left eye making Harrison lose his vision, it was merciless, it's as if a demon was inside that boy.

Harrison fell to the ground from the pain, bruises and blood all over his face.

"I-I DIDNT WANT TO DO THIS!" Rex yelled.

"Why!? Why would you pick on the weak, if you're going to bully people weaker than yourself WHY ARE YOU EVEN A HERO!?" Rex yelled at the motionless Harrison.

"You disgust me Harrison, you shouldn't be in this school" Rex said lowering his tone and getting ready to throw another punch.

But Yui ran, she stopped Rex from causing more harm.

"STOP REX HES HAD ENOUGH!" Yui yelled a shockwave of sound sending Rex flying.

"Yui…" Rex said.

Before Rex and Yui could do anything, they were snatched up by vines, It was Wildvine who had came to see the commotion.

"Yeah you guys are in huge trouble" Wildvine said.

Rex and Harrison were both sent to the nurse for the damage they received. After Harrison woke up from his beating they went to Mr. Williams for questioning.

"Man you kids are a riot! I should expell both of you!" Mr Williams Yelled.

"But it's the first day of school, Investors and The Press will not like two expelled students on the first day of the new year" Mr Williams whispered to himself.

He turned around to the two kids once again.

"Listen just don't talk to each other again, that's all I can really say, you're free to go, but if either one of you two get into another fight you're outta here no questions asked!" Mr. Williams said dismissing them.

By the time they were done sorting this out it was time for dismissal so Rex grabbed his book bag and left the building.

At the entrance, there was Harrison and it seemed like he was waiting for him.

"So about our deal" Rex began.

"I am a man of my word, I won't approach Yui, on my family's name" Harrison said with his head down going into his Family's limo and leaving the campus.

"I will never get that guy" Rex said to himself.

Yui ran outside the building trying to find Rex and she seen him, standing still on the tiles of the entrance.

"R-Rex!" She yelled calling for him.

Rex turned around and smiled.

"T-Thank You Rex!" Yui yelled.

"No need to thank me Yui, after all, it is a Hero's duty isn't it?" Rex said walking away.

Yui looked down, she still had something to get off her chest, something that was eating her up.

"Damn it Yui, Pull yourself together, tell him how you feel!" She thought to herself.

"REX!" Yui yelled again.

Rex turned around in confusion as they looked each other in the eyes.

"I-I love you!"
