chapter 17

Sierra pov.

I couldn't stay hidden and watch Henry in pain. He had helped me, and I couldn't let him die because of me.

Scanning the area, my eyes landed on a shovel. It was my only chance to fight back.

Without hesitation, I grabbed the shovel and cautiously stepped out of my hiding spot. I observed Henry being relentlessly attacked, knowing that if I didn't intervene, he might not survive.

I discreetly dropped the shovel by my side, ensuring that my intentions remained concealed.

Then, I turned my attention to the abuser, observing how he raised his hands to strike Henry. Realizing I had to act swiftly, I found my voice.

"Please, don't."

He paused and turned to look at me, a smirk plastered across his face. I despised every inch of him and his vile countenance.

As he walked away from Henry towards me, my heart pounded in my chest, threatening to explode at any moment.
