The Flame

Moonlight kissed the side of Aurelia's cheek, casting dancing shadows across half her face and hair. Something predatory shone through those eyes as she pounced to her feet.

She seemed even more beautiful beneath the moon as she did in the dawn. Zariel tried to smile but found that he couldn't. He was proud of the girl. The manipulation needed a bit of work, but it had done the trick. He was trapped. And it was worth it.

He eyed her suspiciously. "What did you have in mind?"

"If I tell you now, you'd surely run," she assured him, sliding forward like a queen to war. He almost thought she was when she stopped inches from him. A little too close than he preferred. She smelt of lavender.

"No domain. And you must keep your eyes closed."
