A New Start to a New Life

Chris disappeared from the crowd. He already attracted too much attention when he shouted out loud. He could hear the whispers of the crowd, as they weren't particular about keeping their gossip on the down low.

"It looks like a noob. Maybe first time playing a VR game".

"Why is that lunatic shouting out loud?"

"Haha, maybe his talent was shit and he freaked out".

There were many comments on why he suddenly shouted out loud but Chris didn't care about them. He left the crowd behind and went to a secluded place.

After he upgraded his bloodline, he could feel that there were some changes. Usually depending on the bloodline there would be different benefits associated with it.

When he did that in his past life, there were some benefits he got from the bloodline he obtained.

Now that he added the dragon's bloodline to himself, he wanted to check what exactly changed. He immediately opened his status panel again.

"Wow", an expression leaked out of his mouth, when he saw the changes that appeared on his status panel.

I mean, it was the least that could be expected when one sees the new and improved status panel, which is far better than what he had before he got the bloodline. His status was pretty average, but now, they are way beyond anyone, unless they too get their hands on a pretty powerful bloodline.

Many crave bloodlines, not only does it improve your stats but it also gives you bloodline skills. These skills usually differ from what we could gain from skills obtained normally.

Let's take Chris's situation as an example.

One of the skills he got was [Flight], which can't be gained through normal means. The equivalent skill would be [Fly], which uses mana, instead of stamina. So one can't easily attack while using [Fly] but one can attack from the skies while using [Flight].

There are many skills that one could get from a dragon's bloodline, as it resides at the peak of a magical world. It's the best species when one compares the physical and magical prowess of a species.

There are many skills that comes available to one when they upgrade their bloodline to that of a dragon but most people get one or two skills.

Chris got more than two, this was because his bloodline is a superior one.

Even his stats are way beyond what one would get when they absorb a dragon's bloodline.

The bloodline is one of the two factors that determine how many Free Attribute points and stat boost one would get when they level. The other factor is the class of the person.

A stat boost depends on what the class of the person is. For Chris, as a mage, it is the INT. It usually is small but still helps a lot, especially when one upgrades their class.

Chris already has a scroll but has no idea, how powerful it could be. For that to know he had to wait until he reached level 10, which isn't a far endeavor because of his experience buff.

"Enough dillydallying, let's go level up. I need to earn a lot of gold or I am screwed, as I don't have a job from this point onwards", he decided before going to find the local mage of the village.

"Good morning Sir Mage", Chris respectfully greeted an old man, as soon he reached him.

The old man smiled at Chris, "Oh, an apprentice mage, good choice lad. I suppose you are here to learn some spells?"

Chris nodded, "Yes sir".

To get spells one has to buy them from other mages or from a magic tower. Villages don't have magic towers, so he could only buy them from the local mage.

"Here are the spells I got. Decide which one do you want?", the old man spoke as he showed the list of spells he got.

[Fire Ball] [Fire Arrow] [Ice Arrow]...

"Sir, I have decided. I choose [Ice Arrow] and [Ice Armor]", he said.

The old man nodded in approval, "Nice choices lad. They cost a total of 25 copper coins", he said.

Once Chris paid the price, the old man handed him two spell books, "Here you go".

Chris thanked him again and left the old man's store.

There are reasons why he did what he did.

When he saw the mage, he was respectful to the mage because a person's favorability is a thing, like it was in reality. It didn't increase because they were practically strangers and it would take some time to increase that.

A few words won't change everything but they would help in the long term.

The old man might be a mage from a small village but he would been associated with other mages and the magic tower. It could benefit him and even if no benefits come from that, he wouldn't lose anything.

He chose [Ice Arrow] and [Ice Armor] for very simple reasons.

Many would choose [Fire] or [Lightning] as they are powerful. Even he did choose fire spells last time. The reason he decided against them is because they are powerful and flashy but also attract attention from other enemies.

Ice spells may not be flashy but they do the work perfectly.

The Ice armor is to protect himself from any attacks, that he won't be able to dodge. He knows with his improved stats, the monsters near the village are no threat to him but staying here wasn't an option for him.

It consumes a lot of time as there are many players here and he wouldn't be able to raise his levels as fast as wanted. If he wanted to go into the deep, he needed armor and Ice Armor was the best.

Now all he had to do was to buy some potions and hunt monsters.
