Chris, died betrayed by his close friend, whom he addressed as a brother. All it was due to jealousy. They both entered the game together but Chris reached the sky whereas Brian couldn't.
Brian betrayed his friend to get some legendary items that could turn him into a powerhouse.
What he never knew was that Chris never told anyone about an item that he got, an item that returned him to the time before the game was introduced.

After returning home, Chris took a rest in his bed. He had a long day. First, he had to fly to another nation, then stop the rampaging monsters from destroying the human settlements, not one but multiple settlements. After that, he had to fly back home.

Even for someone such as him, it was not an easy feat. It would be an easy feat if he reaches S-rank, which is not easy to reach. Most of the people are still at F-rank and only a small number of people have reached E-rank. Among them, only a few are at the edge and about to reach D-rank.

This was not same same as reaching E-rank from F-rank. The EXP needed to make that happen has exponentially grown. Even Chris who has an EXP boost has yet to reach C-rank, how could others be able to cross him, especially with how things were moving here on Earth?
