He Is the One Whom She's Marrying?

Shane's condition did not seem too good, so someone from the Muller family called again to hurry Wynonna to pack her things and move in as quickly as possible.

Wynonna dragged her luggage to the Muller's Old Mansion that very night. On her way there, she felt a little uneasy. Would such a distinguished family request to check if she were still a virgin?

Thankfully nothing of that sort happened, and the butler, Uncle Ben, came personally to escort her to meet Mr. and Mrs. Muller.

Mr. Muller was very serious, but Mrs. Muller was friendlier and kept reminding her to take good care of Shane, saying, "As long as you take good care of him, the Muller family will definitely not treat you poorly."

"I will definitely do everything in my power to take care of Mr. Shane," Wynonna meekly answered.

She was finally clear about the two elderly Mullers' attitude toward this matter. Her mission was simply to "ward off his bad luck". They had no intention of making their marriage official.

That suited Wynonna just fine. From that day forward, she would be a loving nanny to an invalid.

The Muller's Old Mansion was huge, with a more Chinese design like an ancient palace, and Shane lived by another courtyard.

The courtyard had nothing but grass and very simple decorations. A few large red lanterns hung outside the solid wooden main door with two "just married" signs pasted on, probably to make it feel more like a joyous wedding.

"Ms. Sinclair, Mr. Shane is in there," said Uncle Ben respectfully, then he left.

Under the blurry moonlight, the huge courtyard became quiet. Wynonna took a deep breath and pushed the door, and it squeaked open.

Many rumors circulated around Pennvale about this mysterious Mr. Shane. Not only was his personality cold, but he also looked hideous. If a child were disobedient, adults would scare the child by saying, "We will feed you to Mr. Shane if you don't listen!"

Even though she had mentally prepared herself, she was still very shocked by the appearance of the man lying on the bed, so much so that she stepped backward and had the impulse to run out of the room!

Not because he looked too ugly, but he was so good-looking that it was almost devilish!

However, that was not the main point. The main point was that this was the same muscular man she had slept with the other night in the basement parking lot!

If she had known that was the Muller family's third son Mr. Shane, she would never have touched him. He was well known for being so vicious that she could be hacked into a thousand pieces!

Wynonna hugged the door frame, taking several deep breaths, trying to suppress her impulse to run away.

She kept assuring herself. "It's alright, it's alright. He is poisoned and in a coma, and he most likely won't survive, so the possibility of him waking up is almost zero."

With that thought, Wynonna slowly calmed down, dragged her luggage into the house, and locked the door.

She steeled her nerves to sit by the bed and looked at Shane's pale face, praying in her heart that he would never wake up.

She did not mean to curse him. She intended to take good care of him, but if he woke up, she would most certainly be killed by him. It cannot be helped; everyone needs to be selfish to survive, she silently told herself.

The house had a bathroom, so Wynonna took a quick shower, changed into pajamas, and got ready for bed.

She had to admit that Mr. Shane lived up to his reputation. Even lying there in a coma, he still exuded an aura that sent shivers down one's spine.

Because he was lying on the outer side of the bed, she had to squeeze herself against the wall to leave as much space as possible between them.

And also because of that, the blanket was not big enough and the air conditioner kept blowing lots of cold air.

Wynonna felt cold but was too lazy to get up to look for the remote. She fell asleep and eventually pulled the entire blanket over herself. She had the habit of hugging a pillow as she slept, and she subconsciously moved toward the man's strong body and hugged him like an octopus grabbing a fish.

The moonlight seeped in through the gap between the curtains and shone onto the bed. The room was quiet, except for the humming sound of the air conditioner and the sound of Wynonna's long, even breaths.

As she slept soundly, the man next to her slowly opened his eyes. The obsidian-like eyes moved slightly, finally pausing on her face, which was on his shoulder.

He was interested to know how good the woman they'd bought to marry him, considering that she'd dared to snatch his blanket and treat him as a pillow!

...

The young woman's white skin glowed like porcelain in the moonlight. Her delicate eyebrows extended gently, and her butterfly-like eyelashes cast a slight shadow under her eyes. Her nose was small and pretty, and her pink lips parted slightly because she was in a deep slumber, revealing a few pearly teeth.

When he saw how she quietly snuggled in his arms like a little animal, Shane suddenly decided he would not kick her out of bed.

This little thing looked so young and innocent that she resembled a teenager. His grandfather and grandmother must have been so desperate to find such a young lass to marry him.

What they did not know was that while he was really poisoned that night, he had already found the antidote, so over these past few days, he'd merely been pretending to be in a coma.

As for the culprit, he had already sent someone to secretly investigate the matter because it had most likely been done by someone within the Muller family.

Besides that, the woman who'd slept with him on the night he was poisoned was the one he wanted to catch the most! If he ever caught her, he'd torment her until she wished she'd never been born!

It was a pity that his mind was foggy from the poison that night. When he'd awoken, he had forgotten what she looked like. He could not even remember her voice, but the parking lot had surveillance cameras. As long as he could get that video, he would catch that woman eventually.

Wynonna slept soundly at first but had a nightmare in the middle of the night. She dreamed that the devilish man from hell strangled her as he growled, "So you're the woman from that night. I finally caught you!"

While still asleep, Wynonna started to defend herself, punching and kicking so much that she kicked Shane onto the floor.

There was a thud as Shane's tall, wide body hit the solid wood floor, causing his eyebrows to twitch slightly in pain.

The floor felt a little cold; he was only wearing thin silk pajamas. He wanted to climb back into bed but was afraid of waking the woman up and reveal that he was pretending to be in a coma, hence he continued lying on the floor, wishing in his heart to strangle her!

Wynonna's nightmare ended and she slept until daybreak. She opened her eyes slowly and stretched.

Even though she had to share this bed with a man, it was much more comfortable than the box spring mattress in her rented basement room.

Oh no, where did the man who had slept next to her go? she wondered.

Looking around frantically, Wynonna was startled to discover that Shane was lying on the floor with his eyes shut tight, still in a coma.

She then remembered that she was not a peaceful sleeper, so she'd most likely kicked him off by accident.

She would be in deep trouble if anyone in the Muller family found out!

With that thought, she jumped out of bed barefooted and dragged the strapping man back with all her might.

"I am so sorry. I didn't mean to kick you," she apologized while dragging him but then started defending herself. "But you can't really blame me. You shouldn't sleep on the edge of the bed if you're in a coma. You'll roll off the bed easily. It's also inconvenient for me to climb in and out of bed."

But even after saying all of that, she still placed Shane back in the same position because it would look bad if someone from the Muller family came and saw that she had moved him.

Speaking of the devil, there was a knock on the door outside followed by Uncle Ben's voice/ "Ms. Sinclair, are you awake? Dr. Langston is here to see Mr. Muller."

"Alright, please come in," Wynonna shouted toward the door as she changed her clothes and then quickly covered Shane with the blanket while saying, "Mr. Muller, you must cover yourself properly with the blanket, or you'll catch a cold."

Uncle Ben saw the heartwarming scene as he stepped into the room. Even though Ms. Sinclair had just arrived, he felt comforted to see how she caringly covered Mr. Muller with the blanket.

They had bought her as his bride to ward off his bad luck, but this young lady was still quite good at caring for him. He reminded himself to sing her praises to Mrs. Muller later.
