She Really Came

The chance to go back to school had not come easily, so Wynonna got up early the next morning.

After breakfast, she took her bag from the sofa. Shane also stood up.

She noticed then that he was dressed very formally. He wore a black suit with a crisply ironed white shirt underneath, buttoned all the way to the top, and a silver-grey tie. He looked distinguished and a little cold.

Wynonna felt very surprised and asked, "Well, Shane, are you taking me to school?

You don't have to. I can go on my own."

Shane looked at her calmly and said, "I just want to go out and take a breather. I'll take you to school since I'm already going out."

Wynonna did not reject his offer after hearing his explanation.

Alan Foster drove them. When they neared East First High School, Wynonna quickly said, "Ok, let me out here. It'd be troublesome if any students saw us."

Shane frowned in displeasure. "Why are you so afraid of being seen?"
