Like oil and water

DEVON'S POV

The sound of a knock on the door echoed through the room, interrupting my thoughts. I looked up from my laptop, frowning. I wasn't expecting anyone, especially not at this time of day. It was barely even day time. With a deep breath, he stood up and walked to the door, opening it with a growl.

Two Elders stood outside, their expressions stern. My mood darkened even more. I had no patience for these old wolves and their outdated ways.

"What do you want?" I asked, my voice cold.

"We need to speak with you, Alpha," one of the Elders said, his tone firm. "May we come in?"

I hesitated for a moment, then stepped aside, allowing the elders to enter. I closed the door behind them and turned to face them, crossing my arms over my chest.

"What is this about?" I demanded.

The Elders exchanged a glance, then the second one, Kel, spoke up.

"You refused to come see us. You dishonored our name and order!"
