DEVON'S POV
I hated to see her like this; it made me feel weak and hopeless that there was nothing I could do to alleviate the pain and suffering she felt, but I refused to stand idly by and watch her fall into a pit of depression. No! Not while I was alive. I grab a hold of her hand, pulling her out of bed.
"Don't worry, dear, we'll get through this. I'm sure we will. For now, I just want you to take it one step at a time. Okay?"
"You just don't understand, Devon!" She replied, the glow in her eyes having since dwindled. I flashed her a warm smile, hoping it could be even the tiniest bit contagious and make her shine those pearly whites that have been hiding from sight for days now.
"Yes, I don't understand. But I'm willing to learn if you'll teach me. Whatever it may be, just know that I'm not leaving your side. Ever."
