DEVON'S POV
"Ryan, Dona! The pack is under attack; both of you shouldn't leave the house until I declare it's safe to do so. Got that?" I said through the mind link.
"Ok!" They responded in unison. At least my mind could be at peace knowing they were safe within the four walls of the palace.
The frantic screams of civilians filled the air as chaos reigned all around us, parents risking their lives to protect their whimpering children, frightened for their lives. The warriors were quick to step in, helping as many civilians as they could.
The tangy scent of blood filled the air, everyone's heart hanging by a thread, our lives flashing before our eyes. With Jack behind bars, we thought we were in the clear; we were naive enough to think the peace would be permanent. The warriors had slacked off and weren't as sharp as they used to be.
