My Suprise

Sarah's POV:

I was able to convince Anthony, and we both stayed in Kim's room for more than two hours, waiting for her. "What if she doesn't come back?" he asked worriedly.

"When I came to your birthday party uninvited, did I go back home?" I asked, and I guess I was also the curious type and wanted to know more about his relationship with Elma from the start.

"Of course, you went back home."

"You were grounded for a week, no phones and all... but you never regretted coming to my party uninvited," he chuckled.

"How old was I?"

"Sixteen, at that moment, I was no longer your master, and you had just returned from your internship in Paris with bad reviews."

"Just because you taught me how to draw doesn't make you my master," I said with a sarcastic tone, and he raised a brow.

"That's not what made me your master," he stated, and I was confused.

Then Kim's door pushed open, and as she stood there, she dropped her bag in shock. She left through the door. How come I was downstairs and didn't see her leaving?

Anthony checked his time on his phone before standing from her bed. "The princess is back," he said before walking past her and leaving.

I was surprised. I thought he was going to raise his voice and give her the scolding of his life, but he didn't.

"I…uhm" Kim stuttered, and I shook my head in disappointment before leaving.

*

The next morning, I woke up early and freshened up before dressing for work. That's when I received a call from Elma's mom: "Yes, mother?"

"We are meeting today, right?" she asked, and I sighed inwardly.

"Of course"

"Good, I will send you the address, and you should come after work," she said before ending the call.

I walked downstairs and saw the maids serving breakfast, but only Josh was at the dining table.

"Good morning, Mother," Josh said, and I nodded before sitting next to him.

"Kim?"

"She left early for school, and Dad also went to work early," Josh explained, and I nodded. They must be avoiding each other.

"Will you join me?" The kid asked, and I nodded. It won't be nice for him to have breakfast alone.

We both ate breakfast in silence and when we were done, he picked up his school bag and I said, "Hey."

"How about I drop you off at school?" I asked, and he looked so happy.

"That will be nice, mother."

Then we both walked to the car before Jude drove away. "Mother, thank you," Josh said, and I looked at him, confused. What was he thanking me for?

"Why?"

"For treating me well and also smiling at me, whenever you ignore me, it always aches my heart," he said with misty eyes. I brushed his hair using my fingers.

"If I ever ignored you, then I must have been in a bad mood or just tired," I lied, Elma must have been herself for ignoring her kid. Well, she owes me one for trying to fix her relationship with her kids.

"You love me, mother?" he asked, and I nodded.

"A mother can only love the child and nothing else."

"I have something to say, but don't be offended, okay?" Josh said, and I nodded.

"I feel like you have become a different person," he said, and I was a little nervous. He had noticed the changes from Elma to me, but Kim didn't, and Anthony was a bit suspicious as well but he didn't think I was a different person.

"Is that a bad thing or a good thing?" I decided to flow with his question.

"It's the best thing," he smiled.

I dropped him off at school before going to the office. I walked in and got to my office. Unise walked to me with some files. "Good morning, ma'am," she said, her tone not as lively as always.

She looked moody; my gaze moved to her feet, and she had wrapped a bandage. "Are you okay?" I asked worriedly.

"I am fine, ma'am," she said in a very formal tone. Did I offend her?

"What happened to your leg?"

"These are the documents for the KC event. Mr. Wistold said Ms. Nel should hand them to you. I will be at my desk, ma'am," was her reply before she left.

Okay, it was obvious something was up with her, but what? Maybe she was going through some personal problems.

I checked the documents, and they had some themes for the event, some photos for the reception decoration, and also the event organizer's number.

Then there was a knock on the door. "Come in," I said without lifting my head. Then I heard the clicking sound of heels and lifted my head to find Nel standing there.

"I underestimated you," she said before pulling out the chair and sitting next to me.

"Yesterday you told me I should prepare my drawing paper because you ruined all the designs," she explained, and I was confused. I didn't talk to her yesterday. Oh, she was talking about Elma. Now I need to search for the meaning of the name Elma; it must stand for trouble or thunder.

"I didn't ruin the designs, and as you can see, I am working... so please leave."

"Tell me your secret. Did you give Anthony a blow job before he decided to put you in charge of the event?" she asked, and I sighed in disgust.

"He is my husband; I will give him that for free," I snorted on her face before checking the document and completely ignoring her.

"I just came to let you know that you have offended me, and you know what happened the last time you offended me? Now let the worst lady win," she winked at me before standing up.

Then she walked out of the office. That woman was a psycho. Now this is all Jacob and Elma's fault. I just gained an enemy, or is it Elma's enemy?

I spent the entire morning at the office going through the document. I told Unise to call the event organizer and give her the theme I had chosen.

It was in two weeks, and the interview at Jacob's industry was in two days. We had to prepare our speech.

Then I checked my messages and saw Elma's mother had sent me the location to meet and have lunch. Well, I was starving already.

And she wanted me to meet her now, I thought it was supposed to be after work.

I got to the car, and Jude drove to the location. Minutes later, I stood in front of a Japanese or Chinese restaurant. The air here was breathtaking, as the restaurant was surrounded by a beach.

"Is this the place?" I asked Jude, I told him the address, and he brought me here. Was Elma's mom here?

"Yes, ma'am," he answered.

"I will take a cab back home; you can leave and rest," I said before walking inside the restaurant.

The atmosphere was vibrant, and the air was filled with scented roses. Then I looked at the floor and noticed there were roses scattered on it.

Also, slow music, the table at the center of the restaurant with champagne and two glasses "What is this?" I was confused before dialing Elma mom's number, and it soon got connected.

"I hope you like my surprise; just feel the moment, and we will talk later," she said before ending the call.

"Elma, what are you doing here?" I turned to find Anthony by the door. Oh geez, he was the surprise.
