I Am A Better Version Of You

Sarah's POV:

"Mother, today was Aunty Jasmine's wedding, right?" Amber asked, and I nodded. I was looking at her wedding pictures, which she sent to me.

"When will it be yours?"

I stared at the kid as sadness filled my eyes. Jasmine was in her late twenties and at the appropriate age for marriage, but I am thirty-two and have just lost all hope in love.

"Well…" I didn't even know how to answer her. "One day," I chuckled. I know it's nearly impossible, but I wish a day would come when I would put on a white bridal dress and walk down the aisle.

"And will Grandpa John walk you down the aisle?"

Hearing that name made me frown. All the splendid memories we once shared were gone the moment they admitted that they had stolen me.

I also don't have a child of my own, and if Mara hadn't given me her daughter, then I would have been all alone, but the thought of stealing my friend's baby would have never crossed my mind.
