Chapter 8 Leaving

Nolan, now within the depths of the forest, did not want to go down the mountain range, he was finding a way up.

Because of the tall cliff, there's no stepping stones for him to climb, after going straight for a while the tall rocky wall did not decreased in height.

"Should I go around, to find a way" Nolan though inwardly.

After walking for a few minutes, Nolan was already distanced away. From the train accident and surprisingly, encountered no zombies along the way.

His vision revealed that, the tall rocky wall ahead not only remained unchanged, but actually grew taller as he continued on his straight path.

"Should I just go down the mountain? To find some any locals living here" Nolan pondered.

"But it's to dangerous, but I have to do it. I have to get back home" his eyes that's firm and determined to find a way back.

Nolan then directed his way going down the mountain, the trees swayed, as he took a step every seconds.

He could see that there's no sign of any animal at all, only crows where the only things he could see flying.

"What is actually happening in this world right now? Did a new virus appeared created by humanity spread" Nolan pondered.

"I have to get a signal to find out, and call mom or my little sister" Nolan said anxiously.

Nolan who was walking step by step encountered a zombie, he stopped to looked at it. The zombie eyes were looking at him.

The zombie growled, fixating on Nolan, then suddenly sprinted with surprising speed, catching him off guard. Nolan swiftly dodged sideways as the zombie lunged, attempting to tear him apart.

"What the... Why is it so fast? This is different from the ones before," Nolan remarked, narrowing his eyes in seriousness.

The zombie, having missed its initial attack, rose from the ground. With a quick turn of its head, it leaped towards Nolan.

Opting not to dodge, Nolan confronted the approaching zombie, waiting until it was within close range before striking with his fist.

With a quick and calculated motion, Nolan shaped his fist, delivering a forceful blow to the zombie's stomach.

The impact sent the creature sprawling several meters away, emitting a low growl as it struggled to rise.

Watching the zombie regain its footing, Nolan couldn't help but feel a sense of bewilderment.

Observing the relentless nature of the undead, he questioned himself, "Should I focus on destroying its brain to ensure it won't rise again?"

Anticipating the zombie's imminent return, Nolan poised himself in a defensive stance. As the undead creature lunged once more with the intent to incapacitate him, Nolan seized a strategic moment when the zombie entered his striking range.

Seizing the opportunity, Nolan swiftly grabbed the zombie's right arm. With a calculated move, he skillfully maneuvered around the creature, positioning himself behind it while maintaining a firm grip on its now-reversed arm.

Executing a swift and strategic kick to the zombie's knee, Nolan brought the creature to the ground.

Swiftly pressing it down, he seized the opportunity to twist the zombie's arms, creating a disconcerting snapping sound.

Releasing the now-disabled arms, Nolan unleashed a barrage of punches onto the zombie's back, each strike landing with precision and force, as seconds passed.

The zombie could only growl, unable to fight back against the assault of its prey. It seemed to have become prey to Nolan.

Nolan stopped when his shoulder began to swell, standing up from its back, but to his surprise.

The zombie rose unsteadily, as if it hadn't been thoroughly beaten. However, its right arm dangled limply, the bone detached.

Ignoring the injury, it charged at Nolan with undiminished speed. In response, Nolan could not help but contemplate, "Smashing its brain into smithereens is the only solution then."

In the midst of evading the relentless onslaught, Nolan skillfully maneuvered, scanning his surroundings for a suitable rock.

As he located one, the tension escalated when a zombie lunged towards him, aiming to strangle him.

In a swift motion, Nolan executed a seamless sideways roll, simultaneously grabbing the rock. A chilling declaration escaped his lips, "This is the end," as the gravity of the situation hung in the air.

The zombie, undeterred, initiated another assault. However, Nolan swiftly countered, delivering a powerful kick that sent the undead creature tumbling backward.

Nolan then seized the moment, leaping forward and tightly clutching the rock in his right hand.

With a force, he elevated the rock, bringing it down in a forceful smash upon the approaching zombie, displaying both agility and strength in his relentless attack.

A resounding *Shwakk* echoed as Nolan's strength obliterated the zombie's head, akin to crushing a piece of fruit.

The skull proved no match for Nolan's might, resulting in a splatter of blood toward his uniform. His face, now adorned with red droplets.

Nonchalantly, Nolan remarked, "That was easier than I thought," displaying an unfazed demeanor, devoid of exhaustion despite the gruesome skirmish.

After standing up, he was about to continue his way but then an electronic voice sounded on his ear, like he was wearing an earphones.

[You have killed a Zombie]

[Kill at least 10 zombies to unlock the system]

Nolan was stunned, "Sytem? Kill 10 zombies? This must be what the guy said last night. I though that I've just heard it wrongly" he exclaimed.

"So I just only have to kill more zombies right, until I can unlock the system" Nolan though deeply.

He have great knowledge about the function of systems, he read some novel and manga. So he had an understanding of it.

In the novel, it can increased the strength of the person, while giving him skills and supernatural powers.

So he was also a little curious on what is the function of this system, "only one way to find out" he muttered in a low voice.

He was about to continue on his way when, a blue sphere just popped out of the zombie, back. It had over two of them so touched it directly, not wasting anytime because he loved the feeling it gives.

"Ohhhh that's refreshing" Nolan spoked in satisfaction, as an electric current spread throughout his body.

When the sensation is gone he kind feel something weird on his body, "Why did I felt that, my strength increased a little?"

After a while shaking hes head, he then continued on his way on descending down the mountain, his journey is not an easygoing one.

He encountered zombie on his way, but they were no match for him at all, he also absorbed those blue orb that would pop out when it dies.

As he keep absorbing the blue orb, he felt that his strength really did increased making his assumptions correct.

"Does this blue orb, improved my strength by just touching it" Nolan exclaimed happy with this discovery.

"No wonder I did not struggle a little, by catching that man's punch. When I absorbed those 2 orbs last time it improved my strength, with just a slight margin" Nolan said while touching his chin, remembering that moment.

Nolan then looked at the panel when it saw that only 1 zombie was remaining to be killed. He smiled, knowing that its about to be done.

He held his trusty weapon which he named 'rocky' clearly indicates that its a rock. Then he's eyes caught a zombie a little far away from him.

He held the rock, tightly on his arms then throw it towards the zombie, the rock hurled through the air making a whistling sound.

Hitting the zombie back in the head, who had no time to struggle or even know what happened to him. Fall to the ground dead.

The impact of the hit, broken its head. Like it was made of glass this is thanks to Nolan, absorbing those blue orbs.
