As Yvonne's father appeared on the street, ragged and in need, Yvonne couldn't help but wonder what had befallen him. Why is he here? What happened to him?
Avoiding direct eye contact, Yvonne reminded herself that her father would not recognize her, not with the different face she has.
"The bus is here." Alisa's voice interrupted Yvonne's thought as she tugged at her mother's hand.
"Oh, okay," Yvonne responded.
The bus door opened, and Alisa joined the line to board. A few seconds later, it was now Alisa turned to enter the bus.
"Bye," Yvonne said. "See you later."
Alisa waved from inside the school bus as it drove away.
Returning home, Yvonne intentionally avoided her father. She pondered over his presence, questioning why he had become the way he was. Yet she found herself indifferent, perhaps viewing it as karma's consequence for his actions.
Entering the house, Alexis flung herself at Yvonne.
