They Exist

Chapter Eleven - They exist.

"And Sorren. The man who is being nice to you. Sorren is also a Lycan wolf. Who knows if they are more out there." Elma added.

Laurel felt strangely betrayed. Sorren too? But he was nothing like what she expected from Lycans. And he wasn't intimidating.

"What if that was why father killed them. Maybe it was really a Lycan that killed mother." Laurel mouthed.

If Lycans still exist then it kind of explained something that happened.

It was like a heavy metal ball was stuck on Laurel's throat. Her mate, Sorren and maybe Cade? They were all Lycans.

Lycans, according to books, were stronger than werewolfs and more destructive.

They got bloodthirsty easily and wouldn't mind killing other werewolves. They didn't stay in packs because they had no unity.

"If it was really a Lycan that killed my mother thereby causing me all the pain I've endured," Laurel sniffed. "Then Stefan and his race were responsible for annihilating all my family members. And I'd never let go."

And in that case, wasn't her father right to have attacked Stefan's pack? It was a noble duty to eliminate Lycans.

Laurel forced herself off the ground, despite her body's aches. "Lycans will pay for everything. If I have to carry out my father's mission, then I will. They just have to pay."

After her declaration, her legs gave in and she fell to the ground. "I'm so weak. What am I saying when I'm like this?" she sighed, slapping the wet floor.

Stupid optimism without ability. How did she plan to even escape the prison with her living conditions?

She would only get sick within weeks. Stefan was really pulling her strings and she could do nothing about it.

"I don't even have anyone who'd support me in this quest to fight back the Lycans. They will be all scared to death after watching their Alphas get overpowered."

And the Betas of these packs might be dead or have sworn loyalty to Stefan's government. It was no use. She had to do everything herself.

"You might still be surprised that you'd get allies." Elma said.

The stupid optimism? Was it from Elma she got it from? Laurel pondered. After all, her wolf could be really high in the brain sometimes.

"I'm serious." Elma insisted, sensing her thoughts. "You didn't meet everyone in the whole Kingdom to be sure that they all hate you."

She never even had the chance to eave her high tower or engage in a social event that wasn't her birthday.

"Yes, but all I met made it clear to me they disliked me and wished I rather died." Laurel replied.

She wasn't even given a chance to make another friend, apart from Lena, all through the eighteen years of her life.

And if anyone in her pack cared, they should have pointed it out during the few times she could meet them. It wasn't a secret that she was being abused.

"Those all were? Only officials, servants within the pack. Never was it a pack member or a warrior." Elma reminded.

Laurel inhaled. Truly, the warriors of her pack had been nice to her because her mother had been their leader. She always looked forward to their birthday wishes to her because they were the only ones who cared.

Lena's older brother, Marcus, a warrior at the time, usually brought the wishes to her from the warriors.

But it stopped when she clocked fifteen. The lead warrior, who reminded the others of her birthday date, died in a clash with a pack, High Mountains. The pack later became under Green Valleys so his death wasn't in vain.

Laurel exhaled, shutting her eyes as those sad memories infiltrated her head. She couldn't even attend his burial.

"Whether or not I could have allies, they're all probably dead. The warriors, the important pack members that'd support me, and the people will be so scared to defy Stefan. It's no use." She replied.

Elma purred in defeat and stayed calm. Being an emotional support to Laurel, who was on the verge of losing hope, was hard.

Their prison door creaked and Laurel sat up, glaring at the door. She didn't smell his scent so it wasn't her mate.

Rather Jade walked in, wearing a skin tight blue dress and golden colored fur on her neck. She had a straight look.

"Did you curse my man?" She asked.

Her man? Laurel looked away with a scowl. Did she just walk in here, dressing that expensive, to ask her such a stupid question?

Or was the bitch here to rub it on her face that Stefan belonged to her?

"I've heard you are cursed and can transfer curses. Did you do any of that to my fiancé?" Jade enquired.

Cursed? Who was spreading such rumors again? It was no doubt the people of her pack who hated her. They still lived?

Her father had once shunned such rumors when her Beta's daughter spread it about.

Laurel didn't know if it was to protect her or protect his image of having a cursed daughter. Surely it was the latter because he felt she was cursed too.

"Are you stupid?" Laurel asked back with the same energy. "Why'd I curse an already doomed man?"

If she listened to rumors about her by her old pack members then she either had time to waste, or has strangely become interested in her.

"I won't ask you again." Jade spoke monotonously. "What did you say to him that makes him keep you alive till now?"

Laurel could feel Jade losing her temper. The wolfess was surely stronger than her and would beat her to a pulp in that mood. She better start talking, even if it was nonsense.

Was it okay to come clean and say that she was Stefan's mate? Or was that her sure ticket to death? Jade would want to cancel out all competitors.

"I am Princess Laurel of Green Valleys Kingdom, a feared Kingdom in the werewolf nation." she started.

Jade interrupted with a scoff but said nothing else.

"Your fiancé barely conquered us and he knows. He knew he only won because they were off guard at my birthday celebration." Laurel continued.

To her, that was the truth. Her father and other Alphas must have been slightly drunk or Stefan and his team had earlier drugged them.

There was no way Stefan would have beaten three pack Werewolf Alphas in one hand, no matter if he was a Lycan with an Alpha blood himself.

Jade advanced to Laurel. "You, shut up! No matter the means he used to beat them, he did beat them. And that's his pride."

"No, the pride is broken. And to satisfy his broken pride, he keeps me here to suffer." Laurel turned to Jade with a smirk. "But it seems you are the one suffering."

Jade's eyes shook and she seethed. "I said shut up! I am not suffering because of you!"

"I never said it was because of me." Laurel sighed. "And what can a defeated princess like me do?"

Laurel didn't know if her words were helping her situation or worsening it so she added. "But I am no curse. Your fiancé wants to deal with me. He's probably thinking of the worst way to do it."

Jade didn't feel relieved but she turned away. The prisoner doesn't seem to know why Stefan's had suddenly disconnected from her.

"I'd leave you to your sorrows then." She marched out and slammed the door.
