Memories

Chapter Sixteen - Memories

Laurel nodded at her words, and attempted going towards the bathroom but a sharp pain went through her head making her lose balance. "It's here again."

They came again. She didn't know when they did or what caused them but they just came. Her hands quickly went to her dress.

"My dress was raised?" Strangely, she felt the sensation of someone prying under her dress while she was asleep, even if she was asleep.

They came like memories but were just sensations. She could hear what happened around her while she was unconscious.

It didn't happen all the time and if it was some kind of gift, she didn't know how to control it.

As a child, she remembered hearing her father wishing she didn't exist and attempting to strangle her if not a maid walked in on him.

She could never see what was happening just hearing voices and feeling the touch.

"Someone must have raised my dress while I was asleep." Laurel shrieked, rushing to the bed and wrapping herself with the dull looking mattress.

Who could have done that to her? It was one movement so she couldn't ascertain if she was sexually harassed or not.

"So you want to get stronger?"

Laurel suddenly heard those words. They must have been from whoever raised her dress.

Did they realize she was training? She looked under her dress. They were ragged. That was definitely a give away.

"One who wants to get stronger, deserved the means to get stronger." the person said again.

This time she realized the person. Sorren.

"He raised my dress?" she frowned, though her cheeks reddened in embarrassment.

Was it just to check her ragged dress or something more perverted? She wouldn't know if he was that kind of person.

"Did his words mean he doesn't mind us getting stronger?" She asked Elma.

Her wolf came to the surface. "I would guess so. Our prison and living conditions changed so we can as well guess it was him…"

The prison door was banged harshly, cutting Laurel's and Elma's conversation. Laurel rushed to the door. "Yes?"

It was the warrior from earlier. "We are leaving now. Prince Sorren says Delta Sigma will monitor you so till he arrives, we're expected to watch you till evening. Don't do anything stupid and just sleep. Got it? We also know you've eaten for today."

"Eaten for today?!" Laurel repeated.

"Is that the only alarming part?!" Elma scolded. "Indeed, Sorren was the one who helped us get out of that prison but now, a Delta will be managing us."

"Good sir. I haven't had my second meal." Laurel kept on protesting. "I swear."

"That isn't my problem." The warrior scoffed as he walked away.

It made Laurel's heart break. What did he mean by it wasn't his problem? What if she died due to starvation?

"You are being too dramatic. You ate once already and sometimes you don't eat for two days straight. Let's focus on important things." Elma reminded.

Laurel returned to the bed and exhaled. "I wonder why Sorren helped me. At least, he didn't send that Beta Cade to watch me so that's a win."

If only she could control the memories that came to her, perhaps, she'd be able to know if Sorren said anything else.

She folded her legs on the bed and stared straight. "Let me give it a try first before being dismissive."

Those thoughts would have to listen to her because in her current situation, being able to know what happened while she was unconscious would help her survive.

She closed her eyes and tried searching her mind. She could only rehear Sorren's words for a while before some inaudible chatter.

Those were chattering from her old prison guard and probably another guard while she slept. It was inaudible because they were outside the prison.

A smile came to her face at her first success. "Deeper. Deeper." she mouthed, trying to go as farther into the past as she could.

There was a heart wrenching scream that made her jolt. Thankfully, she didn't lose concentration. There were more screams and that was when she realized… she had gotten to the day of the attack. The day Stefan killed the Alphas of her kingdom and took her hostage.

"Princess Laurel! Princess Laurel! Ahh!" it was Marcus, Lena's brother. It seemed he was cut down as his groans was heard. It made Laurel sober realizing Lena and her brother died that day.

Someone grabbed unto Laurel as she laid on the ground but the hand had no weight, after a slashing sound, the hand must have been cut from the body.

"I'd take the little princess, thank you!" someone chuckled evilly. Laurel recognized the voice was Cade's. That devil had been the one causing those havoc.

She was pulled from the ground harshly and her body ached. That must have been the beginning of all her body aches.

Tears rolled down Laurel's eyes as she remembered those awful memories. Should she break her concentration now? Going deeper would just be hearing more of her father's wishes to see her dead.

But just then, Laurel felt another sensation. After Cade flung her on his shoulders, someone held unto her arm. "Drop her, Cade. What do you want to do with her?"

Laurel gulped down saliva. Wasn't that Stefan's voice? She remembered him being the one who left her unconscious.

"Ahh, the warriors are having rounds with the wolfesses. Unconscious or not, I'm sure they'd like to have fun with a princess." Cade chuckled.

He was trying to leave her to be raped by warriors? Laurel's heartbeat beat faster.

"Give her to me. The daughter of my enemy can't suffer such a trivial punishment. I have worse things in store for her." Stefan objected.

Worse? Laurel exhaled. He definitely was showing them to her, wasn't he? She was dropped harshly on the floor then Cade walked over her. Next, she was carried by Stefan.

Laurel breathed out, feeling safe from being out of Cade's hold.

"I'm sorry, Laurel." Stefan spoke.

Laurel paid attention.

"I'm really sorry we have to be enemies. You have no idea how long I've waited for my mate."

If he had waited for her why wasn't he taking her?

"But it's sad, I could never forgive you for what your father did to me. Never." He seethed.

Laurel felt her unconscious body being thrown in a carriage that had ceramics. No wonder she had scratches on her body now. There was nothing but silence afterwards.

She broke her concentration. "He must be living his best life with me here. No shred of pity anymore."

Since that was his resolution, then she would cast out all hope for them being mates and just work on getting stronger.
