Darren stood in front of a building with a woven toy and a box of chips. He'd be picking Ella from school.

He felt guilty for leaving before, but he had almost no choice. Still, he knew she wouldn't easily forgive him.

He knocked on the witch's home again, and waited for a reply. The door slowly opened and the little girl walked out with sunken shoulders, kicking a stone out.
