When Lily was dragged inside her room, she felt the sting from the slap on her face, but most of all, she was confused about why her father was being extremely violent.

"Miss, are you okay?" Alice entered the room, holding an ice pack, which she gave to Lily.

Lily took hold of it and placed it on her face. She shook her head, "I'm fine, but I don't know what I did. Do you have any idea what has got my father so worked up?"

The maid sighed, "It's the news. You accepted to work on a project with Mr. Ryker, and it's all over the news," Alice replied.

Lily brought down the ice pack from her face. Then she remembered that the mayor was saying something to her earlier, but she quickly ran away, trying to avoid Mr. Ryker. "That..." She muttered.

Alice nodded, "Yes, and you know how much your father hates anything that has to do with Mr. Ryker."
