PRICE OF LOYALTY

[Music Recommendation: The Wolf and The Moon ~ BrunuhVille]

The tires crunched on the gravel driveway of Augustine's mansion, a place Victor never once thought of as home, but now it even felt like a cage he shouldn't tread. However, he had to, for the sake of Maya, who was in this mess because of him. Stepping out of the car, he took a deep breath, the air thick with the scent of jasmine, a sickening reminder of a childhood he barely recognized. After the last time he had come to visit Augustine, which was to threaten him, he promised himself never to go back. He should have known that Augustine would stop at nothing to bring him back home.

Augustine awaited him on the porch, a smirk playing on his lips. "Victor, my prodigal son returns. Come in, come in, we have much to discuss." His voice dripped with false sincerity. "I knew you would come back someday; I mean the story of the prodigal son always ends one way. Right?"
