Gerald's steps were swift and quick as he left me angrily. I smiled to myself as I watched him leave.

I heaved a sigh of relief as I turned towards the direction where Jennifer and Ebenezer were standing. Just as I turned to walk down to where they were, I was met with Jennifer's startling presence as my heart skipped a bit.

"Gosh!" I shouted as I moved back a bit, almost missing my steps.

"You scared me," I said, staring at her with a frown on my face.

Jennifer just stood like a ghost as she paused for a while without saying anything. Her stare pierced through me as I wondered. Have I done anything wrong?

"Are you sure about this?" she asked, her eyes darting toward the path Gerald had taken, her expression filled with quiet, unspoken words.

"Gerald won't be happy with you for doing this," she said, her voice sounding more like a warning.
