the Alpha's choice

Chapter 52

The Alpha's Choice

Gerald's POV

I pushed past Lina, my body a blur of motion, my heart pounding, as I raced towards the door, my feet thundering against the stone floor, a desperate pursuit of the woman who haunted my thoughts.

But as I burst through the door, my eyes wild, my breath ragged as I darted my eyes sideways, I found only emptiness, a ghostly presence in the space where Amelia had stood, her absence a painful, throbbing ache in my heart.

I stood motionless, my shoulders slumped in defeat, as I stared into the darkness, a silence heavy with regret enveloping me like a shroud. I know she must have felt hurt as she saw Lina about to kiss me.

I thought of Amelia, of her smile, her touch, the way she had woven herself into the fabric of my heart, the way she had stolen my breath and taken my soul, with a single glance.
