Jennifer's Visit
Amelia's POV
I watched with my breath held, my body frozen in place as Grandma moved toward the door, her steps slow and hesitant as if she were moving toward a bluff, a danger that lurked just beyond the threshold of our abode.
The wooden door creaked as Grandma turned the knob, the sound of a piercing grating noise that seemed to echo through the kitchen. She pulled the door open, the air rushing in and caressing her skin.
"Uhm… who are you? And how may I help you?" I heard Grandma's voice ask. Her words whispered in my ears.
My heart skipped a bit as I heard the familiar voice from beyond the door, my mind raced with a million questions, a thousand doubts. But what could have made her come this far just to see me? I wondered.
I dragged myself off my seat, my step slow and sluggish as I moved towards the door. My footsteps clapped on the floor I walked on.
