The Pack Awaits
Amelia's POV
My eyes fluttered open, blinking against the soft, filtered light of early morning, as my vision slowly adjusted to the waking world.
The room around me was familiar, yet strange, the shadows shifting and morphing, as the sunlight slowly crept through the window, casting a golden ethereal glow upon the walls.
I darted my eyes round the room as I saw Jennifer sleeping beside me. Her breathing was soft and even, her presence a comforting familiar warmth, as I turned my head, my thoughts filled with so many memories.
Why do I feel so energized? So strong?
My thoughts swirled as I recalled the events of the previous night, my body wracked with pain, my breath coming in short desperate gasps as Grandma's hands administered herbs to me.
"I pray you'll be better by morning." She had said.
