Secrets Unraveled

After successfully finishing Sofia's surgery, Vesalius lets out a deep sigh.

"Alright then, let's not keep the lads outside waiting. I'm sure they would be quite happy to hear their boss's condition is stable now" says Vesalius in his usual tone. Completely different from the extremely serious attitude he had while he was performing the surgery.

Vesalius decides to praise N before they head out of the room, "Y'know, you did good. Not only did you set up the operating room and equipment surprisingly quickly, you also accurately identified Sofia's condition. Glad to see your time here is not going to waste."

In between his praises, Vesalius decides to mix in a warning, "Also, good job on maintaining your composure when you were being confronted. There will be a lot more of that when we get out, so be ready. Annnndd, the condition of your body, your unique healing ability, I want you to keep it under wraps alright? I know a lot of mad people who would kill to have you as a test subject for all kinds of horrific experiments."

N nods in agreement saying, "As you say Vesalius. I will not talk about my condition with other people."

They both head out and see all the people Sofia was with, sitting outside the room's door, on the floor.

As soon as the henchmen see Vesalius leave the room, they spring up and approach him. Bombarding Vesalius with questions about Sofia's condition.

"She's fine, she's fine. The surgery was a success, I extracted the two bullets and patched up the wounds. Her condition is stable, she should wake up in about an hour or so. But seriously, it never fails to amaze me how all you tough looking grown ups become such puppies whenever it comes to Sofia." Says Vesalius as he lets out a laugh.

It does not take long for one of Sofia's guard to steer the conversation towards N.

One guard who had the most visible injures approaches Vesalius. He had an aura different from all the other guards, as if he was their leader.

"Vesalius, what is this about him being your assistant? I thought you said you'd never keep an assistant." he asks while pointing at N. 

Vesalius smirks, "ahh yeah. This guy over here is someone Hiro brought over. As for why he's my assistant, I'm afraid that's above your paycheck, Lucas. Just know that he is trustworthy."

"While I'm at it, let's introduce you guys to each other. As ridiculous as it may sound, this assistant of mine is named 'N'. Now, N. This pirate looking fella over here is 'Lucas'. He is the head guard, leading the group of guards that protect Sofia. With him are 'Orm', 'Emily', and 'Lei'", says Vesalius as he points at each of Sofia's guards.

All of the people that were supposed to guard Sofia looked as if they had participated in multiple wars, their bodies and souls let off an overwhelming otherworldly aura.

The stares of all such intimidating people were towards N, yet he did not get intimidated.

"So, N. How much about us has Vesalius over here told you?" asks Lucas as he moves towards N.

Lucas was six foot and five inches with a lot of muscle on him so he towered over N who was comparatively tiny, being five foot and ten inches and skinny.

N stared straight into Lucas's eyes and replies without wasting a moment, "I do not possess a lot of information on you and your associates. All I know is that you are part of 'Orion', a gang, and your task is to protect 'Sofia' who is the boss."

Lucas is surprised that even after direct confrontation N would not get intimidated. He turns towards Vesalius and says "You have a crazy one under your wing."

To which Vesalius laughs, "I know."

Vesalius then steers the conversation away form N and towards the more pressing matter at hand, "Right, that's enough chit chat. Everyone get in that room right there," as he points to a smaller room right next to the one Sofia is in, "come in one by one and I'll start with your treatment."

N follows Vesalius into the other room where slowly but surely every person from Orion gets their injuries tended to.

As soon as that is done, Vesalius tells Lucas to feel free to go inside the room where Sofia lays unconscious to look after her and to come running to him if the screen that is monitoring Sofia's condition starts to beep.

He takes N with him and moves away from the 'high class patients' section of the hospital and towards his office to deal with any other matters at hand.

As soon as they reach Vesalius' office, he immediately asks N to show him the progress of his wound healing.

After removing the bandage from N's hand, Vesalius is shocked to see that most of the wound had already healed.

The cut from barely a few hours ago was almost completely healed.

For the first time Vesalius could see the effect of N's regenerative power, which left him completely stunned.

Immediately Vesalius asks N to have his blood withdrawn for tests to see any changes had occurred.

After taking the blood sample and giving it to his assistant to be tested, Vesalius in a hurry starts to set up a smaller table next in the office.

After setting it up, he asks N to lay his arm in the middle of the table with the wound facing up and not move.

Vesalius had decided to record the process, to see if any changes would take place while his wound healed, so he set up multiple cameras in pointing towards N's arm and he too decided to stare at it, whilst waiting for the blood test results to come back.

It takes around two hours for N's blood result to come out, and in that time, N's wound completely heals.

Vesalius is left speechless at what he just witnessed. Although the healing was slow, it happened right in front of his very eyes. Every single medical know how he had acquired throughout his life was wasted in front of N's miraculous healing.

The assistant knocks on Vesalius' door to deliver N's blood test results.

Still trying to process the unscientific feat that happened in front of him, Vesalius quietly stands up, moves towards the door and receives the blood report from his assistant.

He quietly goes back to his desk to compare the previous result with the new one, and after a while he stops and starts laughing hysterically.

"This is making my mind go crazy. N, there's a whole lot of experiments I want to do on you" exclaims Vesalius in a crazed tone.

Suddenly he remembers the words Hiro told him before leaving, "Listen Vesalius, what happened with N makes no sense at all. As you do tests on him, do not forget that the whole reason I'm leaving him with you is so you can take care of him and teach him about the way a human body works. Do not go overboard with your experiments!" and he clicks his tongue frustratingly.

"Whatever, forget about the experiments for now. Let me tell you the things I've noticed about your report. Come sit in front of me."

N gets up and sits in front of Vesalius.

"Here, these are your two reports side by side. The one on the left was taken before I gave you the cut on your hand, and the one on the right is the one we took not too long ago. What do you notice?" asks Vesalius.

N takes a moment to look at both of them, trying to analyze the differences between them. After a while he gives up and replies, "I am unfortunately not able to understand. There are some numbers that are changing but I do not understand why that is happening or if it is not normal."

Vesalius sighs, "Ah, alright. The amount of change is not at all normal, which means your body definitely goes through some sort of biological change whenever it's healing, can't really make a concrete guess on why and what that change is right now, but with more specific tests in the future I should be able to."

"The one thing that I did notice is the gas buildup in your organs. Almost every organ while regenerating had swelled up unnaturally. And weirdly enough, there are no signs of swelling visible now, which means the swelling is gone. I'll need to research more on this later."

While Vesalius was rambling on, his assistant knocks on the door.

"Come in." says Vesalius in a slightly annoyed tone as his passionate rambling was interrupted.

"Sir, the vip patient has woken up." says the assistant.

Vesalius hands N his blood reports and says "Right. That's enough explanation for you. Let's get to Sofia to check up on her."

Both of them get up and move out towards the high class patients section of the hospital again.
