Chapter Twenty-One

"Diane, wait! Diane, just hold on. Let me explain!" Tyrone's voice pleaded as he desperately tried to reach out to me, but I chose not to look at him, my emotions too raw to face him. However, he managed to grab hold of my hand, his touch still sending shivers down my spine. "Diane, please, just hear me out first, okay?"

"Hear you out? And what? Are you going to deny that she's your fiancée? That your engagement is just around the corner? W-well, what now? Tell me all your goddamn excuses!" I burst out, the anger and pain in my voice palpable.

"She's my fiancée." The confirmation hit me like a crushing blow, and I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying to hold back the tears.

"Then what was the point of all this?" I said, turning away from him, but he quickly moved and wrapped his arms around me from behind.

"Please, just listen to me," he pleaded, his grip tightening around me.

"Tyrone, enough! I've had enough!" I said, my voice breaking as tears streamed down my face.
