Chapter Forty-Three

"I'm sorry," he said, his voice tinged with regret. He took out a card from his pocket and swiped it on the door, careful not to make any physical contact with me. I couldn't bear the thought of our skin touching. It was very difficult.

"T-Thank you," I stammered as I quickly exited his condo. I couldn't believe I almost gave in to his advances. Stupid Diane!!

I pressed the elevator button repeatedly until it almost broke. When I finally reached the ground floor, I immediately hailed a taxi. Thankfully, a kind security guard assisted me. There were no passing cars as it was rainy, and it seemed like a storm was brewing.

"Where to, ma'am?" the taxi driver asked politely as I got in.

"Anywhere," I replied. I didn't want to go back to the boutique. I needed a break.

"Anywhere, ma'am?"
