Vacation (2)

"Eh, that's all?"

"Yes, I hope you don't mind my request."

"Hm..." The saintess placed a finger on her chin as she closed her eyes for a few moments. She continued

"Well, while I have some free time, there's no harm in chatting with others from time to time. If it's going to be a long conversation, shouldn't we chat in a place where we're comfortable?"

Eh, it's this easy? I didn't expect that my request would be granted by the saintess so easily.

"Thank you."

I followed the saintess from behind, then we entered a garden decorated with various kinds of flowers which made this garden look beautiful.

"What do you think about this garden?

"Honestly, I admire the taste of the person who designed this garden."

Saintess glanced at me slightly as she said. "Thank You."

...For what?

I saw there was a gazebo in the middle of this garden, the saintess was sitting on a chair that had been prepared by the servants.

"Sit down, to make this conversation a little more comfortable, I have told the servants to prepare the food."

The waiters came with plates of food ranging from steaks to salads all served on the table. Without realizing it, the table was already filled with plates.

"You don't need to bother with all this, I'll just ask you a few questions."

"You don't have to be shy, you must have felt hungry when you got here right?"

I was silent for a while before finally opening my mouth. "Okay then, I will gladly accept your kindness."

Saintess smiled while drinking the tea in front of me while I tried some of the food that had been prepared

"Okay, now what do you want to ask?"

I felt pressure from the saintess for some reason but I can't back down now, maybe in the future an opportunity like this won't happen again. I took a sip of water and then looked up at the saintess's face.

"I want to ask you if I can return to my world."

Saintess was silent for a while then she said. "This can only be realized by yourself because we don't know whether you will survive or not from the battle against Gods later."

"What if I said that I would survive?"

"Even 'If' you survive and the contract between us is completed, the chance of you being able to return to your world is 0.00000001 percent, you may already know this but the universe is a huge place, not to mention there are many dimensions that separate one galaxy from another. So, finding the planet or world you used to live on is almost impossible."

"That's enough for me."

"What?"

Saintess was surprised by the answer I gave her, I didn't lie to Saintess when I said it. I was confident I could return to my world because I still remember the coordinates of the galaxy and planet I lived on, that's why I was able to return after researching a planet when I was still a Dimensional Explorer.

Saintess smiled warmly as she tilted her head. "You are a great person, Nicholas Dendi."

"What are you talking about, Miss Saintess?"

"No, it's nothing."

It seems like the saintess misunderstood me but well, I'd better keep quiet for now.

"Is there anything else you want to ask?"

Ever since I got here, I've had a few questions on my mind. I never found the chance to ask these things to the Saintess, but finally, the chance to ask these things has come to me.

"Why do you need to summon people from other worlds in this battle, when in previous battles, people from this world could win without the need to summon people from other worlds?"

The Saintess closed her eyes for a moment. I felt mixed feelings when I saw the figure of the Saintess at this time.

"The answer is simple, We are overwhelmed." Saintess then sipped the tea in front of her.

"Overwhelmed?"

"That's right. usually, this invasion only happens once every 100 years. Therefore, even though the damage caused by the invasion is considerable, the people of the previous generation can rebuild the destroyed kingdom and strong people start to emerge, that's the cycle of this world."

I did not speak and only listened to the Saintess. On second thought, it seemed like the most optimal way to prevent destruction. Because people with great power have died in the great war, future wars could be the end of the planet. The question is why only humans are called to this world? Why weren't any elves or beastmen summoned?

Saintess then looked at me with a strange look, then she continued. "Gods are beings that have been around for a long time, they have powers beyond our imagination, and because of those powers they consider us mere entertainment."

What a troublesome entity, I thought they were beings who guarded this world, but it seems like they are just trash with extraordinary powers.

"And in the battle that will take place in the future, the survival of Aetheria is at stake, and if we can somehow win this battle, then the cycle of this world will return to its normal cycle."

The atmosphere here became uncomfortable, the Saintess I saw now looked like someone who was tired of life, although she hid it with a warm smile and a cheerful expression, but still.

...I could feel it.

I got up from my seat and bowed before the saintess. "Thank you for the time you have taken for me."

"Have you already found your answer?"

"Yes, thank you for answering all my questions."

"I'm glad I could help you, just follow Nina, she will take you to the guest room."

"Thank you."

I turned and left the Saintess, who was still drinking tea in the gazebo. For a moment I thought I heard the Saintess say something.

"I apologize for involving you in the problems of this world, I pray for your safety wherever you are, I hope you are well."

I turned around and saw the Saintess leaning on a chair with her hands covering her eyes.

When I saw the Saintess like that, for some reason I felt like I was hit by a hammer right on my chest, various feelings came over me when I saw the Saintess like that. Without lingering, I quickly turned around and left the garden.

...Sh*t
