Jedd’s Examination

Like an obedient little boy, Jedd now seems to really listen to his best friend. Starting with consultations, even MRIs he needs.

"I wonder how beautiful your ex-girlfriend really is," Dru whispered whenever he started to get annoyed with Jedd's behavior.

Jedd's soft chuckle to Dru was as if he was reluctant to tell Dru what Cathleen looked like.

Dru had only heard some rumors about Cathleen from Louis, but he had never met Cathleen in person.

It's just that Dru knows that Cathleen must be a girl who has a big enough patience limit for his best friend Jedd.

He knew very well that Jedd's attitude was sometimes very annoying, you could even say that he could not get his priorities straight.

Proof of this was when he had to be forced to return to the country of his birth because Jedd had forgotten that his body needed a fairly routine checkup.

He's not even sure if Jedd has been taking his medication.

Oh come on, how close to crazy Dru was when Jedd was almost unconscious, not to mention the repeated headaches he felt up to his vision which was said to be getting worse.

"Should I make a schedule for you or should I just be your advisor so that you are always under my supervision?" Dru whispered while waiting for the results of Jedd's examination.

Jedd was of course quite surprised by Dru's sudden words.

Why would Dru say that all of a sudden? Wasn't he fine so far?

That was exactly what Jedd thought.

In fact, if Jedd did not have an illness worthy of a time bomb, then it was certain that Dru would give his best friend an expletive.

But Jedd's current situation did not allow Dru to do that.

He was still a reasonable person!

"I'm fine, you don't have to treat me like this," Jedd told Dru.

A heavy sigh escaped Dru's lips. He knew that Jedd would always say that, assuming that everything would always be fine.

"Have a drink," Dru said, who had just returned from the hospital café.

Jedd nodded his head as he accepted the cold coffee Dru handed him.

"So, do you regret coming here?"

For a moment, Dru's eyes swept around his surroundings before he finally returned his gaze to Jedd.

Dru shook his head at Jedd and said that he felt that everything was under his control so far, so he had no regrets at the moment.

It was a small relief that Jedd felt for Dru. At first, he felt a little guilty for Dru, because he did not want his best friend to be supported here just because of him. He knew very well how his best friend showed up when Dru was at his lowest.

Although he never knew exactly what happened in Dru's dark days, he decided to leave his own country and never return.

Without him, he would never have seen Dru here today.

"Thank you, you were my friend," Jedd said with a little pride.

Dru lifted his lips to look at Jedd. He thought Jedd would be reluctant to say such things, but it had only been one day since he had been there and he had miraculously heard two words he had never heard in all his years of friendship with Jedd.

Thank God Jedd isn't as difficult as I thought.

Jedd, who was just about to let out his voice, suddenly heard someone calling his name. He knew that calling his name meant that the hospital staff was calling him.

Sure enough, a hospital worker with a paper in his hand had brought Jedd's MRI results, as well as some other lab results.

"Dr. Rick asked you to come back to his room," the staff said as he handed over the documents he was holding.

Jedd looked at Dru for a moment and then both decided to follow the staff to Dr. Rick's room.

This time Jedd could not hide his nervousness in front of Dru. He realized that Dr. Rick had called him back for a reason.

It was the results of his examination that made him return to Dr. Rick's room, right?

That was what Jedd and Dru had in mind.

"That's okay, everything will be fine Jedd. It's better for you to hear it now than later. Dr. Derrel or Dr. Rick must have a solution."

Jedd nodded his head at Dru. For the first time he was truly grateful for the existence of his best friend, who was more than his family. His best friend never counted when it came to him and vice versa without Jedd even realizing it.

.

.

"Have a seat," Dr. Rick told Dru and Jedd.

Dru patted Jedd's thigh and tried to calm the young man down.

Jedd's nervousness really couldn't be hidden by Jedd.

"Have you been taking the medicine regularly for four years without a checkup?"

He immediately felt like he was being interrogated by the police. Oh come on, I don't like this kind of situation!

A slow shake in the end Jedd gave as an answer, because it was true, because he had forced himself to work for several years, he often forgot the important hours for himself to take the medicine that should have been determined.

Not only that, he still sometimes forgets to take nutrients into his body.

Dru, who saw Jedd's answer, wanted to curse his best friend, but his position did not allow him to do so.

"I guessed it. Your results are bad, sir. As you can see from this examination... you have deteriorated since the catch Prof. Derrel gave me four years ago."

Dru clenched his fists and tried to control his emotions.

Was his best friend trying to shorten his life?

That was what pushed Dru's emotions to the brink. It felt like his emotions had reached a boiling point that could explode at any moment.

"Have you had a lot of headaches lately or is your body starting to feel weak?"

Jedd was silent. He seemed reluctant to talk about what had happened to him in the last four years.

"Jedd?" Dru whispered when his best friend remained silent.

Unexpectedly, Jedd chuckled in front of Dr. Rick.

"How much longer can I survive if I don't do this?"

"Jedd! You're crazy."

"Dru, this must be my punishment for hurting her, so shouldn't I take it?"

Oh, come on Dru didn't like this. Why was the Jedd he knew becoming like this, like a stranger far away from Jedd?

Dr. Rick who had been observing Jedd began to realize the reason for the patient he was dealing with.

"It seems that this is not a punishment, but a test for you Mr. Jedd. Isn't it possible that if you can pass it well, she might come back to you?"

Silence...

Both Jedd and Dru spontaneously looked at Dr. Rick who had just said something they did not expect.

Could it be?

That was Jedd's immediate thought.

Dru, who began to understand the emotional impact of the doctor's words, immediately replied.

"I think what Dr. Rick said is right, what if this is a test? If you say what you said earlier, doesn't that mean you're going to fail the test? Do you like failure?"

Jedd gave Dru a quick shake of his head.

He did not like failure!

"Doc, how do I get well again? I'll do what you say. I don't want to fail this test."

Just hearing those words from Jedd made him want to cry. He didn't know how fragile his friend was in reality.

'I'll help you find your Cathleen Jedd.'
